Handled too clumsily it will backfire. The very model of a ham-fisted politician is Hillary Clinton. She probably should have won in 2016 but she took the election and the electorate for granted. Remind people of what is going on, gently. No one wants to feel that they are cold-hearted towards people in need. One needs to appeal to people's better nature, people's need for order.

The Democrat is presiding over an exploding $36.4 billion budget deficit, a major narcotics crisis, a self-imposed illegal immigration sanctuary crisis, massive capital outflows, and fleeing taxpayers (causing the loss of a congressional seat).
Was Democrat Hochul there to tell former Sayeret Matkal commando Benjamin Netanyahu to make the Gaza Border a “sensitive place” like Times Square?
And get this.....While in Israel, Democrat Hochul was spotted wearing body armor which she didn’t hesitate to ban for the proles she lords over in NY.
This is the height of hypocrisy. Maybe Democrat Hochul should have also suggested that Netanyahu ban body armor for Hamas-endangered Israelis?

Spot on. I worked in NYC and surrounding environs for 25 years. Any conservative, hell any moderate Democrat (and the definitely did exist at one time) has left the city and moved south or to a red county.
The voting base left is now 75-80 % pure left wing kook. The Giuliani-Bloomberg years will be viewed as the city's golden years. And make no mistake, for those 2 decades it was a great town to be in. But because of demographics, that will never happen again. I have very little sympathy for the NYC voting base because if an election was held the incumbent would still get 70% of the vote no matter who the Republicans ran against him.

In my travels in the 80s, I worked for some portion of several years in NYC, Manhattan specifically near Central Park. Even then, the Lefty mentality was "cool" and "trendy" such that a glimmer of conservative views made many NYers growl like feral Lefties. I suspect it still must get much worse before the died-in-the-wool NY Democrats would even begin to think their policies have actual negative consequences.
Decades later, I also have no sympathy left for them.
Yep, the “election” is no longer a participatory event but is instead just a scripted reality show, filled with fake drama and a pre-determined ending.
Yes it should be but Chambers of Commerce in many parts of the country put lots of pressure on the elected GOP politicians in their districts to keep quiet about the cheap labor they want coming in--then the businesses that profit from these uneducated, unskilled workers let us taxpayers pick-up the check for their upkeep once they're here.
