Kamala Harris v. Gavin Newsom: The Coming Democratic Civil War
The Messenger ^ | November 25, 2023 | Keith Naughton

Posted on 11/26/2023 8:38:41 AM PST by Reno89519

The Democratic Party is united — for now. Fear and loathing of Donald Trump keeps the various Democratic factions in a precarious peace. But labor v. environment, Jewish vote v. Muslim vote, and center-left v. hardcore progressivism cannot remain at bay forever. The fiercest battle may well be the looming civil war between Vice President Kamala Harris and California Gov. Gavin Newsom for the party leadership once President Biden leaves the stage.

And it won’t be pretty.

When Biden named Harris his running mate, he conferred on her heir-apparent status. The pick made sense. VP nominees are mostly about pulling together party divisions or offsetting the nominee’s weaknesses. As an old, white male Catholic, Biden running with a minority female checked some important identity boxes. And, in 2020 with a campaign hobbled due to covid restrictions, Harris did just fine. The “not Trump” campaign worked.

However, given an opportunity to establish herself as the next Democratic hope, Harris has proven rather maladroit. Something about her isn’t quite right. Her speeches are mediocre, with poorly thought-out ad libs. Her awkwardness with voters is positively Hillary Clintonesque. After spending her life in the progressive hothouse of California, Harris has shown little ability to build appeal in the other more centrist 49 states. Given the unpleasant portfolio of illegal immigration early in the administration, she failed to distinguish herself. If she has any real policy responsibility today, it’s not apparent.

But what must rankle Harris the most and speaks to how badly she must be viewed in Democratic power corridors is the utter lack of interest in her replacing Biden on the ticket. Joe Biden’s numbers are bad, very bad. His approval has been under water for the past two years. He is running behind Trump on multiple ballot test polls — despite Trump’s myriad problems. The double-minority woman Harris replacing Biden should be the talk of the town. But it isn’t.

Her polling tells the tale: While Biden is an abysmal 14 points negative on the RealClearPolitics approval average, Harris is worse at negative 17.6 — worse than Trump (negative 16.6). In YouGov polling, Harris is 13 points down on approval (Biden is down 10 points) with just 40% approval against Biden’s 42%. She has just a 3-point lead on approval among Black voters but lags 8 points with Hispanics. Independents approve at just 26%, against Biden at 31%.

Harris should take comfort in the fact that there is nobody in the D.C. political scene that is a real threat. The most popular Democrat, Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), is even older than Biden. The septuagenarian Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) is getting there. Pete Buttigieg’s (D-Ind.) tenure at Transportation has been miserable. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) and Cory Booker (D-N.J.) are nowhere to be found.

I do believe there is an opportunity for us in the upcoming Newsom/DeSantis debate if it’s still on this coming Thursday, Nov. 30.

DeSantis could beat him in a way that Reagan squished RFK in ‘66. Would the Florida governor bring up Newsom banging the wife of his chief of staff?

Having Hannity moderate the debate makes no sense.

Don’t forget that Newsome appointed a NON-CA resident female black lesbian to fill the Senate seat of Dianne Feinstein the relic now dead crust apparatchik of the Pelosi-Newsome-Feinstein alliance.

Name escapes but she is a seat holder— against which Adam Schiff thinks he can run and... win. Adam Schiff vs. black lesbian Maryland resident. It’s not even queers vs. steers. It’s paedo’s vs. lesbo trannies. Who would win that fight?
Aside from the utter failure that is Newsome. Hated in his own state by all but the dem machine in CA legislature.

Newsome and Harris are two people who are so loathsome and feckless it's hard to see anyone fighting over them but we live in interesting times.

I read just a day or so ago that the Newsom and DeSantis debate is still on. As I’ve said, all along, it should be quite interesting as I really think these will be our two candidates next November.

Gutfeld would be a better choice than Hannity, but it would be interesting to see how Hannity wants to play this, because he’s been trying to be buddy buddy with Newsom

Ds have/had an out by letting D voters boot Harris in primaries, but Joe’s insistence to stay at the top of the ticket is pre-empting that option as primaries near.

“It wasn’t me.”, D grand poo-bahs could claim. “The voters decided.”

I, for one, applaud Joe’s fantasies and hope he remains upright for a few months more.

Ds may be playing the long game, focusing on ‘28 (Newsome, etc).... in the meanwhile, hoping Trump’s indictments develop into convictions.

As concocted by a hate-filled Biden, and endlessly visited on his opponent Trump,
the historic importance of “due process” in pursuing US justice has been totally eliminated,
tabbed by dimwit Biden NOT to be an integral part of “fair process.”

This travesty is being played out in the newest Texas/Paxton controversy....
smashing to smithereens the very foundational principles of the US justice system
<><> the “presumption of innocence until proven guilty,”
<><>”legal challenges,” not evidence of wrongdoing, prevail.

Resembles the Goebbels methodology......call it “Biden finds a crime.”

Hannity is there for the residual “good fibbie” derp state he seems to be schilling for— operating from his continuous feed talking points for the Murdoch sons at Fox. Rubber stamp for the rino “revolution”. which Haley seems to think she has a chance— after all she has done to South Carolina.

IF somehow DeSantis went for Newsome’s jugular— his fraudulence and immorality. And don’t forget Don Jr’s girlfriend ex wife of Newsom (Kim Guilfoyle)— there could be a means to coach this in some fashion if the waters aren’t too bloodied (even by prior agreement) between DJT and DeSantis. Have thought it could all be pre-planned even the “visciousness”. As shakespeare said— all the world’s a stage and we are but poor players in it”,,, (sic).

Unlike the GOP, this has been in the planning stages for a couple years.
They both will do what they are ordered to do by Holder and Obama.

A fun factoid here is that Kamala Harris beat out Gavin Newsom in the pre-primary election maneuvering for her Senate seat. Newsom had to take Governor of California as a consolation prize.

Gov Nuisance is already tacking “moderate”.
<><>voted for nutball legislation he would have rubberstamped enthusiastically a year ago
<><>He is not credible as a “born again moderate” to anyone who has been paying attention,
<><>but voters onto him are a tiny fraction of the ballot- stuffing citizenry.
<><>All the wily Nuisance needs to do is concoct a couple of talking points,
<><>and the gullible MSM will sell whatever the biased pollsters tell them to sell.

Great comment. They’re both idiots.

But apparently Dem voters are too.

The problem is that if Biden makes it to the convention, and then Newsom is put on top of the ticket, he’s avoided the primaries, and he now has simply the final run in November. The media can probably cover for him that long.

To be honest, Harris removed herself prior to the 1st primary (2020).

If you went back to 2022...there was some meeting held in DC where Newsom arrived while Biden was out-of-country. Newsom met with some WH officials but it was not disclosed who exactly (I don’t think VP Harris was included).

Just my humble thoughts...I thought Newsom was the insider, and likely to be nominated for VP at the convention next year. In recent weeks, I’ve seen some BS that Michelle Obama is being discussed.

General plan appears that Biden appears at the convention....says some health ailment exists, and opens the door for a wild-card element, where a scripted ‘winner’ is pulled out of the magician’s hat.

The person who won’t be included in this scheme is VP Harris. Perhaps Newsom is crowned, and Michelle Obama is VP?

During the 2020 Democrat primary, Harris told the sob-story of being "that little girl" on the school bus being bused to another school far away from home. She blamed this on Joe Biden's policies as Senator.

As VP, Harris then went all mushy over “Who doesn’t love a yellow school bus, right? Can you raise your hand if you love a yellow school bus? Many of us went to school on the yellow school bus, right? It’s part of our experience growing up. It’s part of a nostalgia, a memory of the excitement and joy of going to school to be with your favorite teacher, to be with your best friends and to learn. The school bus takes us there.”

Of course, after the debate Harris explained her busing attack as "It was a debate."

The next time Harris debates someone, they will bring this up as a prime example of her insincerity with the American people.

The election is less than a year away. Hillary (who will be 77 on Election Day) is not doing any of the things that a presidential candidate would be doing.

+++++++++

You need to look at this from Hitlery’s point of view:

1. The DNC cheat machine was not “all-in” back in 2016; They are now
2. HRC knows the more she is in the public eye the worse it is for her. Think of the Biden basement playbook. Stay hidden.
3. She is younger than Trump, Biden
4. She will never, ever, ever, ever be at peace with losing to PDJT
5. She actually has cleaned up and “appears” more alive than she did in 2016
6. She is owed this. Back from the early 1990’s standing by her cheating scumbag husband.
7. This is it. Her last chance. She knows it.

Don’t count her out until the watering line is forming at her grave site.

The Democrats will never forgive her for losing to Trump. At least Biden managed to get himself elected. They're not going to replace a proven winner with a proven loser.
