(Gray News) – Toyota is unveiling a new affordable truck model that was recently introduced at the Japan Mobility Show 2023.
The IMV series first launched in Thailand in 2004 and is available in more than 180 countries and regions around the world, according to the automaker.
“In Thailand, the IMV series is regarded as a local favorite, integral to daily life,” the company stated in a press release.
Toyota said its engineers developed the Hilux Champ truck model with customer lifestyles and needs in mind.
Nearly a dozen customized models were shown at the launch in Thailand that portrayed a wide range of business styles and uses.

Just in time to replace the gazan terrorist technicals destroyed by the Israeli's.
There’s still a 25% tariff on imported trucks, including small pickups.
“...we won’t see it here in America.”
I wish they would but it would severely cut into sales of other trucks so we’ll never see it here.
Actually the EPA and environmental laws are written that they cannot sell small trucks here.
Crappy, my stuff would all fall off the bed.
Even with a 25% tariff, this model would be less than 1/3rd the cost of a new Tacoma.
The Maverick and the Santa Cruz are both smaller than the IMV. The IMV is body on frame, a big advantage for some purposes.
I bought a bare-bones Tacoma (manual windows, but with A/C,) in 1992 for 14K. I gave it to my son in 1994. He drove it for 7 years (later thanking me for the vehicle to transport the rugby gear for his team in college. - not too proud in HS.) He joined the military, and finally gave it back to me. After 23 years and 150K miles, I traded it to my yardo man for work that would cost me $5k. I have seen it on the steet five years later. The world needs simple, reliable and inexpensive transportation.
The Toyota HiLux is not available in America. The Tacoma is the model that you get instead.
Fed DOT mileage policies make it unprofitable to make small utility trucks.
But federal DOT bureaucrats know better than what the American people want or need. Smaller trucks with good good milage cannot be sold, but large, expensive trucks with poor gas milage can be sold—all in the name of increasing gas milage. This can only make sense to a bureaucrat and we have to live with it.
You know those side fold down, right?
Yep, pure utility. Would be interesting to see the engine bay.
Does it report everywhere you go, everything you do and everything you say to a mothership?
Silverado no frills with manual windows and AC
265k miles and still driving ok
“You know those side fold down, right?”
Oh, that’s better. Just looked at the picture.
sides fold up and down... still no
Which is why I just had my 92 Ford Ranger entirely refurbished. It’s much more cost efficient as opposed to buying new.
