It wasn’t. I don’t think DeSantis was referring to everyone who was there but to those who were engaging in mob behavior. I believe a good many egging that on were there just for that purpose. When such mob behavior happens everybody gets blamed and the innocent, peaceful protestors found themselves caught up in the legal witch hunt that follows.
I respect Ron DeSantis service.
I respect that he has done a good job as Governor of Florida, even if I don’t agree with his policies.
I understand why he said this about Jan 6th.
Clearly there were some bad elements there, Feds, Antifa, democrats posing as Trump supporters.
However, there were many peaceful people there who wanted the 2020 election reviewed. Many felt that democracy died with a crooked election and ballot stuffing. An election that resulted in the government becoming more powerful, and continuing to bankrupt the nation, while liberty, freedom, and privacy were destroyed. Those people were fired upon in a protest area, some in my opinion, were outright murdered because they felt that an illegitimate election had occurred.
If the 2020 election WAS stolen, or at least so crooked that nobody really knows who won, then those individuals who protested that legally and peacefully are actually Patriots and Heroic. Everyone should let that sink in, what will future evidence of the 2020 election show?

I am not sure I agree with you. But DeSantis has given me no basis for disagreeing with you, either. As far as I can tell, at the federal level he is a decent-looking container but with unknown contents.
No question for me of whom to pick between him and Trump. If we assume for the sake of discussion that the Democrats succeed in having Trump assassinated, er, removed from the scene, before the election, I would have a hard time choosing between DeSantis and Ramaswamy. Ramaswamy is also an unknown, but not in a scary, Deep State way.

The riot was NEVER an insurrection. Our side would not try to take over the government with the only weapon being flagpoles. I mean come on, that's gotta be obvious even to someone as stupid as Kitzenger... or whatever his mane is.
Conservative Americans broke the law going into the building but conservatives aren't stupid enough to think if you get into a building you get to 'make laws'. It was a protest. Then a riot. NEVER AN INSURRECTION.

I think it showed how far those in power will go to set up what was supposed to be a slaughter of citizens but didn’t turn out that way so police literally goaded protestors into action by firing rubber bullets and tear gas into the crowd. Then, Capitol police opened up the Capitol and guided citizens through it only to have those citizens arrested and thrown in jail. One was even murdered inside the Capitol and the Left celebrated her murderer.
It also showed how Democrats refused Trump’s offer of troops so they could proceed with their staged production of trying to paint true Americans as terrorists.

By the way, one of the agitators of the riot fled to Belarus, where he has popped up as a commentator on state run media there. So if he was “a fed,” it was for the Russian Federation, not the FBI.
There were different groups jacking around that day, from federal employees plants to groups left and right, anarchists, etc.
None of those people who broke windows or moved barriers or vandalized anything or struck any cops could be called “patriots.” Those were bad actors doing what they or their organizers pleased in defiance of Trump’s wishes, either out of sheer stupidity, or because they wanted to set the stage for the Democrat’s false accusations and claims of “guilt by association.”
Now, those tourists and nonviolent protestors who came over after Trump’s speech and after the bad actors had broken in, or people who just got shoved in by bad actors, are doubtless patriotic people. But those were not insurrectionists.
If the questioner did use the term insurrectionists, de Santos should have caught that and not let the questioner get away with broadbrushing.
The problem is we don’t know who was actually involved in the “break in”, we do know there was a massive plainclothes Fed Law Enforcement presence, Fed informants and ANTIFA goons within that crowd. We do know that people who stayed until the end of Trump’s speech and then walked down to the Capitol and entered through open doors and were greeted by Capitol Police have been charged and convicted of “crimes”.
That’s why transparency is so important here and why the GOP leadership in the House must form and hold their own J6 Committee..

It was a protest. A protest with fbi and other agency instigators, and likely antifa and communist plants there to cause the violence.
They were let into the building, as someone from the inside opened the door.
It was so violent, people kept in a single file walking between roped off guidelines, while in the capitol.
It’s the left and the media, along with traitorist ‘republicans’, that push the image that it was violent to begin with, and an ‘insurrection’.
