Wait, That’s How Much Money Ford Lost for Every Electric Truck Sold
townhall ^ | 1/26/2024 | matt vespa

Electric vehicles are the future, they said. They’re the quintessential pain in the backside that isn’t worth the money and a resource drainer for the working family. Who am I kidding? These cars aren’t for people like us. It’s for rich, wealthy, woke whites who think they’re doing their part in going green. They’re really setting up their families to freeze to death when the battery dies as temperatures dip.

In Canada, one man detailed how these vehicles were the greatest scam of the modern era, given the $130,000-plus investment he sunk into this cockamamie lefty idea. When the EV line costs your company billions, maybe that’s a sign that this goes beyond overhead and research costs—customers don’t want it. For every Ford F-150 Lightning sold, which Joe Biden was infamously photographed driving early in his term, it cost Ford $36,000. So, how is the car giant going to fix this? They will shift their focus toward making more gas-powered cars—the ones that make money (via NY Post):

They take the most popular, bestselling pickup truck and decide to make it electric. That is called pissing in the soup. Chairman and President both need to be fired.

I just read on another site that Ford is doubling down with one of their Canadian plants. They are killing the ICE Escape model in April, retooling to build up to three different EV models starting in 2025.

Ford has a well documented history of production fook-ups from H Ford I refusing to abandon the Model ‘T’ when it was well past it’s prime to the Edsel, and beyond. And now this cluster-fook of a pickup truck. It is a wonder that Ford is still in business ... until you see the sticker prices on their vehicles.

Ford customers made it clear in the mid-1920s that the venerable Tin Lizzie – the Ford Model T - had run its course and that it was time for Ford to develop the “next big thing” for the automobile market.

While competitors were building cars that were better suited to the quickly modernizing roads and consumer tastes, Henry Ford believed that the Model T was still the best option for those living in rural areas, as well as those who desired accessible prices.

It became clear to everyone that updates and lower prices for the T would no longer suffice, so in late 1926 Henry Ford directed his engineers to start work on a new Ford – the Model A.

They likely made quite a bit up in public sector fleet sales.

And Deep State is still buying, isn't it. From September...

GSA is driving federal fleet electrification

Poor hires in the executive suite always cost the shareholders money. That being said, one has to wonder why the Board hasn’t acted to correct the mistake.

What to do when it’s cold, snowing, you’re in the middle of nowhere in your out of power EV and you can’t charge up your dead phone?

EVs are "for rich, wealthy, woke whites who think they’re doing their part in going green.

True, but you better believe that they also have a real car in every garage for when they really need reliable transportation.

It is wonderful when these people die from such stupidity. Forcing their woke idealogy which is The New Green Deal/Agenda XX is a small price for the rest of us. If it would happen to the entire bunch at Davos or any of the WEF-like meetings, the world would be a better place immediately.
The war of the government upon the people worldwide should result in their removal and them being stripped of their wealth. There can be no rule of law with them maintaining their stolen wealth and lifestyles.

Ford would have lost a lot less per copy if they had built a commuter sedan instead of a pickup. Who came up with that insanity?

It is not just Ford. Other OEMs have EV trucks and other road hogs in various stages of development.

The reality is that the sedan’s you note do not sell and are thus costly rather than profitable.

It is definitely well past time that the impression of ‘green and better for the environment’ was changed to what it really is...
1. A dangerous fire hazard and no EV should ever be parked in a garage... especially one attached to a house.
2. A very high risk of massive water pollution with toxic metals during the mining process. Lithium is typically mined through a process called brine mining which involves extracting lithium from underground saltwater reserves. This involves pumping saltwater to the surface, where it is evaporated to remove the lithium and other minerals. https://www.wired.co.uk/article/lithium-batteries-environment-impact
3. Here’s another environmental impact that is currently flying under the radar and that is toxic tire dust which is pegged as being 2,000 times as bad for the environment as ICE exhaust. Since EVs are much heavier than ICE vehicles, the amount of toxic dust that is released is proportionally higher. It’s globally already at 6 million tons of particulate a year https://e360.yale.edu/features/tire-pollution-toxic-chemicals

Well up on the reasons to not purchase an EV is because they are simply horrible for the environment. The above three are just a start and there are likely even worse reasons..... well, the cost of the replacement battery is another.
