“I just heard about it two minutes ago…I really don’t know what the details are,” said Florida Senate President Kathleen Passidomo in response to a question about DeSantis' move to send state and national guard troops to the U.S.-Mexico border in Texas.
“My initial reaction is that he’s so desperate to get national attention," she said. "The men and women didn’t sign up to be used as political stunts, and that’s what this is.”
The Florida State Guard was re-established by the legislature in 2022. A staff analysis of last year’s expansion bill states it can only operate, "with the jurisdiction as considered necessary by the Governor.”

Because he is steping up to fight the nwo occupation government. Can’t you give him credit for a VERY good thing?
Quoting Leftist Dems now?!!!

Oh so the border is t wide then pen and the states are t being invaded? Fecking evil America-hating cow.
You’re misrepresenting my comment as being in support of ‘d’.
That’s not the nature of my comment.
I thought I read the the president can’t federalize without the consent of the governor.
I recognized that you posted a statement, The post wasn’t meant as an attack on you...
I was pointing out that desantis didn’t pretty much forgot about florida while he was out campaigning..

Currently, 23 states like California, Texas, Connecticut and more—as well as the territory of Puerto Rico—actively maintain state guards.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iowa_State_Guard
State defense forces are recognized by the federal government of the United States under Title 32, Section 109 of the United States Code.[6] Iowa state law allows the Governor of Iowa to activate the Iowa State Guard when any part of the Iowa National Guard is called to active duty by the federal government of the United States.[1]
But interesting. Will have to speak to a local legislature
https://www.floridastateguard.org/why
State guards are authorized under Title 32 of the U.S. Code and operate distinctly from the National Guard. They are state-funded, responsive to the Governor and focused on the needs of their home state.
at least those with good governors.
Florida supports DeSantis in this choice...
AND Trump corrected a reporter recently for using the term “desanctimonious”. That term’s been retired is what Trump said. We’re in this for the win - if you want to mock someone take on Nikki Haley.
I thought you didn't support Governor DeSantis sending the state guard to Texas.
Do you?
exactly.

As a three time Trump voter, the attacks by self proclaimed conservatives on my governor are tiresome.
Usually, state guard can’t be deployed outside the state.
Screw the “legal questions” … Defend the border! Defend the United States!! Whatever it takes!!!
I would venture that politicians who go on the record calling help for Texas against a foreign invasion to be a political stunt have loyalties toward keeping the invasion going and empowering Democrat lefties.
I read that the border crossings of illegal aliens on the Texas border was down 78% last month. It looks like a successful mission for national guard units of all states involved.
Existing state law provides that the Florida State Guard can be used to “provide support to other states . . .”
I think Governor DeSantis is on firm ground.
Sure, Disney is going to sue anyhow.
I can see why DeSantis is very unpopular in some quarters.
