Former President Donald Trump must pay nearly half a billion dollars as a bond to New York State before he can appeal the ruling by Judge Arthur Engoron last week that he must pay $354 million in fines — over $450 million, with interest — for fraud.
Critics have noted that Trump is the only person ever to be sued under an obscure New York fraud statute that does not require any harm be done, and that effectively criminalizes the everyday practice of real estate valuations in negotiations with banks.
Though Attorney General Letitia James — who ran for office promising to target Trump — claimed that no one is above the law, her case against Trump marks the only such case in the history of the state. And the staggering fine is likewise unprecedented.

And he is being charged interest every DAY it’s not paid! So figure how long it would take him to come up with that kind of money, it’s not like he’s got almost a half a billion in a piggy bank or checking account doing nothing, it’s invested so he has to sell. How long is that going to take?
What we are seeing is blatant hardcore tyranny AND it was set forth by a woman who should have had been disbarred when she ADMITTED she would abuse the office when she campaigned.

Haley stands about as much chance of being president as Vlad Putin. I’d think with Trump out of the race, Kennedy would have a chance to beat her or Biden in a three-way race as she is not fit, and neither is biden. I don’t crap about Kennedy except he is a Kennedy. But there is no damned way I would ever vote for a dimocrat or Haley if the stupid GOP put her up.

I’m not a lawyer but in 40+ years of Real Estate Development I’ve been involved in hundreds of legal motions.
Based on that experience, I believe that Trumps attorneys will file a “motion to set aside judgment” with the presiding judge of the courthouse Engoron works at along with a “motion for recusal” of Engoron.
Trump’s attorneys, in my layman’s opinion, will want to wait at least 30 days because the fire is going to get hotter and hotter under the asses of New York State Officials including judges, Senators and Governors.
I have found in my 40 years of litigating that “Courthouses” ARE FAR MORE about “Politics” than LAW. Indeed LAW is second fiddle to politics every time and this judgment is going to cost New York State and New York City BILLIONS! That’s a lot of POLITICAL HEAT!

The Real Estate people in New York are terrified of what happened to Trump, and now they think it might happen to them. Kevin O'Leary said he will never invest any further money in New York. Cost big monied people in New York some money from lost investments, and you might get a visit from the Mafia, which you would so very well deserve.
And the law is an @$$ and you can make it mean anything you want if you just play the silly games.

It's beginning to look like your quite right. Billions lost vs. gloating over poking their fingers at their enemy's ribs (Trump's), for the reward of a paltry fraction of those billions, is going to cause quite an attitude adjustment for the more competent NY pols.

Exactly right. Any business in NYC that doesn’t control the politicians - and that’s most of them - is now at the mercy of the whims of these tyrants. There is no rule of law anymore.
No, no, they assure us that they only are going after Trump, they aren’t going after you!!! Yeah right. Who wants to do business in that environment? Everyone in fear of offending the petty tyrants? Businesses are going to leave in droves. This ruling cannot stand, unless they want NYC to go down the tubes.
In the British common law which most countries use, a prosecution cannot apply the law selectively and judicial precedent matters.
The American justice system somehow forgot this important judicial principle.
