Zelenskiy says without US aid, Ukraine forces will have to retreat

(Reuters) - President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said in an interview published on Friday that if Ukraine does not get promised U.S. military aid blocked by disputes in Congress, its forces will have to retreat "in small steps".

"If there is no U.S. support, it means that we have no air defence, no Patriot missiles, no jammers for electronic warfare, no 155-milimetre artillery rounds," Zelenskiy told the Washington Post.

"It means we will go back, retreat, step by step, in small steps," he said. "We are trying to find some way not to retreat."

Shortages of munitions, he said, meant "you have to do with less. How? Of course, to go back. Make the front line shorter. If it breaks, the Russians could go to the big cities."

Democratic President Joe Biden has urged the Republican-controlled U.S. House of Representatives to endorse the military and financial aid package, but House Speaker Mike Johnson has held up the matter for months, citing domestic priorities.

And Europe is free to buy its energy from Russia instead of the US. Russia is free to use those resources to build nuclear weapons and send money to thier key ally Death to America Iran. Armchair isolationists can and should understand there is real price to be paid in American blood and treasure for their fantastical daydreams.

None of that makes it a US war.

Europe needs to man up and pay up.

They have +28 countries to pay and fight.

Make a deal now—get the best deal and keep Odessa—otherwise Ukraine will become a landlocked rump state at Russia’s mercy.

No more money for the Ukraine. We’ve got plenty other corrupt places where we can spend the funds.

Surprise, the ukes were demolishing Putin just weeks ago. Biden just wants to float the kleptocracy till all former connections and cash flow trails are erased. Then, the hell to the Ukes, and Ukraine kleptocrats leave with lots of cash and curse Putin on their way out.

I'd be OK with President Trump giving Ukraine one more bag of cash...if the Z-Dancer would spill the beans on the Bidens.

You are assuming that there is no Russia/Ukraine nonkinetic conflict before 2022. The dispute over Russian/UKR.territory has been going on for a long time.

The least you could say is to defend OUR borders also. In the meantime , all the other countries know Biden is a sad old man and they are running amok till USA gets rid of wokeism and Biden and his puppeteers.

Time for the EU to step up, pay up, and man up. Their fight.

Yes, this.

The Ukraine war affects Europeans in Europe. While I'm on Ukraine's side, I still recall the Vietnam war (in which I was a uniformed participant). This is the time for the EU to step up, pay up, and man up. It's their fight.

Only after upgrading our United States Military (including trained and ready personnel and the very best in equipment and aircraft and aircraft carriers and missiles and every conceivable military advantage, should we even consider assisting a country that was not a member of NATO or an ally in any respect, ever.

And then, any aid we give would absolutely not include US troops, and absolutely, however, would include a thorough, comprehensive audit which would be real-time-published for all the world to see.

Any (any) corruption noted, deal is off, completely. And that's that.

” What “real” US interests are served by Russia destroying Ukraine, killing civilians, and continuing its attacks on its neighbors?

Please let us know. “

The normalization of worldwide commodity markets and the reduction of prices for everything Americans purchase. Everyday.

As opposed to your abstract, do-gooder emotion.

Zelensky claims he’s shooting down 98% of what Russia is throwing at Ukraine and Lindsay Graham said 70% of the Russian Military has been destroyed by Ukraine and NATO, so why on earth does he need any more support? He’s doing great! Carry on!

Abandoning a US ally that wanted to be westernized will not cause reduction in prices. It will also make Taiwan look like an easier target and might give communists control of some of the most important tech in the free world.

An America that helped freedom triumph over tyranny always had the best economy and strongest dollar right after victory. I.e. after WW2 and collapse of the USSR.

I’m from the USSR/Russia and nobody wants to actually live there except propogandized old people who cant understand anything else. USA has problems but the violations to freedom there are a whole different level.

Not even children of the wealthiest residents want to stay in Russia. Modern people obviously prefer the freedom of the west and calling the revolution against Russian tyranny a “coup” is absolute horsesh**
