Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY), 82, intends to remain in the U.S. Senate to oppose conservatives who support a truce between Russia and Ukraine, he said Monday.
McConnell announced in February he would step down as Senate minority leader at the end of the cycle following health issues and incidents of freezing up during press conferences. He is the longest-serving party leader in Senate history.
In an interview on WHAS, Terry Meiner asked McConnell what his “mindset” is “when your feet hit the floor in the morning?"
"I’m not leaving the Senate,” McConnell said. “I’m particularly involved in actually fighting back against the isolationist movement in my own party

I knew it was time for me to hang it up last year when I retired at age 62. Yes, Long Covid had a lot to do with it, but overall, I didn’t want to be a person who holds out “just because.” I didn’t want to be the guy who someone found dead in their work chair. There are plenty like that at the military base where I used to work and they are the pariah everyone wishes would leave because they cause more harm than good. It’s too bad our politicians can’t come to that same realization.

I don’t know about that, Dan. The America first movement won in 2016 and McConnell and Paul Ryan put the brakes on Trump’s agenda and omitted his Wall funding in the first Omnus Bill giving Trump a defeat. Then they persuaded RINO’s to retire before the midterms deliberately loosing the House. Now we’re seeing the same thing happening again before the election coming up with all these RINO’s resigning in order to give the house back to the Democrats in case Trump wins.
He’s got to cling on to the bitter end or see his family prosecuted. Ought to change his family name to Biden.

We’re up to 80% and gaining to their 20%. RINOs are still around and have some clout, but they’re losing. They’re in the last throes and know it and fighting desperately for relevance.
Our founding fathers never would have envisioned someone like Turtle destroying our country from within as he has. Then again, our founding fathers also would not have envisioned a voting population that kept him in power. We are so broken.

I honestly don’t think he’ll be around that long. But at least this way everyone will know exactly where he stands (I know... all freepers knew all along).
