“The father of one of the male students who was involved heard about the incident and reported it to school staffers...”

Wow, what a stand-up guy turning in his own son. Good for him!

Why isn’t the article about multiple people in JAIL facing long prison sentences?

We take our responsibilities as mandatory reporters seriously and follow the law around reporting.”

Except when it makes us look bad. I hope this family cashes in bigly.

The lawsuit states that Portland Public Schools and SUN program affiliates are liable for not teaching students about sexual boundaries,

I don't recall receiving such teaching in any grade. But everyone knew what those boundaries were.

How old are the rapists?? I doubt many nine year olds know anything about sex. That is, most who don’t live in an urban ghetto.

I bet I can guess the demographic of these “kids” just from the utterly vile crime committed.

... and a Multnomah County-sponsored after-school program operated by nonprofit Latino Network failed to protect the girl...

Nonprofits are a nightmare. I saw an after-school program years ago that was clicking off two boxes - 'helping kids whose parents worked (after school programs) - mixed with an exconvict job program. Clicking off boxes secures funding. The Homeless industry is one of the worst... but that's a different story.

Nonprofits are a nightmare. I saw an after-school program years ago that was clicking off two boxes - 'helping kids whose parents worked (after school programs) - mixed with an exconvict job program (getting jobs for people recently released from prison). Clicking off two boxes helps secure funding. The Homeless industry is one of the worst... but that's a different story.

They got a free day off for sexually abusing a child. This is how predators are cultivated and rewarded.

In a separate incident that same school year, the suit states that another student tried to kiss the girl without her permission, and she hit him to protect herself, OregonLive reported.

The suit notes that both of those students were suspended,

Seems like over-reaction here and inadequate response in the other.

So a boy kissed a girl and she belted him, should have ended there other than the school should have told the the boy to ask next time.

Remember when everyone thought unionized “teachers” teaching toddlers “sex ed” in elementary school wasn’t a good idea?

ANOTHER REASON TO HOMESCHOOL

This ping list is for the other articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)

The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.
