State official rejects Dems' illegal plan to sneak Biden's name on 2024 ballot (Ohio)

A state official in Ohio has rejected Democrats' illegal plan to sneak Joe Biden's name onto the 2024 presidential ballot.

A lawyer for the leftist party had wanted the state of accept a "provisional" certification of Biden, and Kamala Harris, as candidates, but Attorney General Dave Yost's office found the move "simply is not provided for by law."

"Instead, the law mandates the Democratic Party to actually certify its president and vice-president candidates on or before August 7, 2024. No alternative process is permitted," the statement said.

The problem is that Democrats, focused for the last few years on trying to exclude President Donald Trump from the 2024 ballot, overlooked state requirements for certification. Their convention, to officially name Biden as the candidate, doesn't happen until the end of August.

After the deadlines in Ohio and Alabama will have passed by the time their decision is made.

Rs have a plan to fix this but if I were there I couldn’t resist a little horse trading. Want on the ballot? Tell Garland to stop the shenanigans!

Be great if he doesn’t get on the ballot, as it means millions of votes for him will disappear as most Democrats aren’t able to write-in his name.

I think the only thing that will work to “fix” the issue is after some sort of pressure some state legislatures will have attempts to change their laws, to language that specifiies some such rule like “within 24 hours after a party convention provided that that is no less than 90 days before the voting”, instead of a specific date. 90 days, or three months ought to be enough time to prepare the ballots.

No, too close. According my understanding if a write-in comes reasonably close to the person, it counts. So perhaps A-B-U-S-E-R ?

I can’t see how it would be so difficult to change the date of the convention.

Oh, whatever works. I didn’t realize that Burden is too close. It does begin with B and end with N, has two syllables, so the people reading the write-ins will surely not be able to distinguish them. Close enough works for them. So your option is much better.

I’m pretty sure they’d like to change the location of the convention.
The Chicago gathering will be a total circus of every kind of clown under the democrat/Marxist umbrella.
I can’t wait!

“The dims will get him on via the courts, but it is fun to watch.”

The same rule was in effect last cycle, but the Republicans gave Trump an exception so he could get on the ballot. (It’s usual that the incumbent party’s convention goes second. That’s why, in 2020, the Democrats met the deadline but the Republicans didn’t.)

So, yeah, if the GOP politicians who control Ohio elections apply the rule selectively, the results will be: (1) they’ll get sued, (2) as you predict, they’ll lose the suit and Biden will get on the ballot, and (3) the Democrats, who don’t want to talk about the border, will instead talk about how the Republican Party tried a sleazy undemocratic maneuver. Net gain for Biden IMO.
