The main deterrent to terrorists is to create despair and hopelessness by destroying their home sponsors. Colin Powell is just the man for the job.

I wish I could believe this, but Powell has been busy trying to get Iran and Syria to join our coalition against terrorism.

Really Annoying equals Safe Plane

That's actually a calculus for every government solution, whatever the problem. If they aren't annoying the public, they don't think they've done their job. Hence, my Christian brother-in-law who serves in the U.S. Forrest Service had to attend a cloying homo-sensitivity workshop. I need to pay an erosion control fee, even though my building doesn't require any grading.

Governments annoy. That's what they do. Don't expect anything they say or do to make sense--especially when it comes to safety issues.

I'd say Janet Reno is more man than Colin Powell...but real men don't terrorize and murder children for the fun of it. Sorry, but Colin is a wuss..only hired to round out the "diversity" of the Bush cabinet. Funny Clinton never had a single minority in a position of power.and the liberals loved him. Bush has tons of em, and the liberals still hate him. Don't get me wrong, I support the president, but I've never liked Colin Powell or Bush's attempts at making friends with Dems. Ann, when exasperated, can make some of the most telling points about rampant silliness, and tie them together in a way that would shame most stand-up comics. But Ann is not doing it for comic effect, she has some dead serious arguments behind her rhetoric. She rightly targets a great deal of wasted effort, and provides some possibly very workable alternatives. But Janet Reno, well, the old gal might not be really enthusiastic any more. After all, her real purpose was not to originate the plans to barbeque Christian fundamentalists, or to extricate children of foreign nationality from the bosom of a caring family, she was only carrying out the orders of others. Or maybe she was just incompetent.

I interpret her suggestion to mean that foreign nationals who have gained access to the US by means of their country of origins's passport must carry THAT passport to travel in our planes.

I dunno, tho' Maybe that is already now required? I'll have to ask the next FN I run into.

To require US citizens to obtain and carry a US passport in order to travel (fly) domestically IS a federal domestic "travel" ID card mandate

(1) Pilots should be the first to board the plane and the cockpit door be locked like Fort Knox behind them, unopenable by anyone until the plane lands. The cabin crew should be able to communicate with the pilots only to request an emergency landing. But nothing that needs to be spoken over an intercom, such as: "Fly to Kabul or every passenger gets his throat slit."

ROFLOL -- though what about situations where a passenger becomes ill and they want an ambulance ready on the ground. It makes a difference then whether the plane emergency lands in Cornfield, Iowa or at O'Hare. I guess there could be a defined set of messages that could be activated to the cockpit by push button, with details relayed to the ground via the airphone system keeping the pilot out of the loop.

The object Collin is trying to accomplish is to keep Syria and Iran from supplying the Taliban. If they don't the Taliban is toast.

The Russians won't supply them and the Paks are afraid to, Iraq has no way to get the stuff there, and has lost its Russian suppliers. So if we can keep Iran and Syria from supplying the Taliban the game is over for the Taliban.

I never cease to be amazed at the enemies of our nation who use this site to encourage our defeat and attack our best players.

Most of the aliens in the country don't have passports. I suspect most of the illegals don't fly much. I don't have a passport and certainly don't intend to get one to fly domestically. At least not on Delta.
