Funny, the only thing Dowd has done all her life is talk...and now she's offering advice on fighting...by talking some more.
To: CWOJackson
LOL! Is this for real? Dowd thinks she's Patton re-incarnated.
To: CWOJackson
I'm pretty sure that almost no one will confuse Maureen Dowd for Condi Rice.

Why do we need Sec'y Rumsfield when we have dopey dowd. We can have her run the war as she is so well informed. First we have the press tell us what Rumsfield is doing wrong, now we have a liberal funny page writer telling him what he is doing wrong. This is more than I can stand.

I predict a post about either Michael Douglas or Catherine Zeta Jones by post 11.

Why does Maureen Dowd want to be...
?
To: Pokey78
In a way, the White House was hoist on its own censorship petard because Osama's ranting insults of the U.N. and Muslims who support America could well have worked against him had the video gotten wider play. Too late at night and too tired to completely go after Mo (I'll eagerly hit this thread in the early a.m. to read the writing of my fellow FReepers)...BUT, wasn't part of the reason most media outlets (Clinton News Network not withstanding) didn't play the OBL interview was the fear of hidden instructions in his rantings to his devoted followers in the hidden cells. Wasn't the concern, Mo, NOT to HELP OBL cause more carnage?
I have to ask, don't they ever proof/edit their copy before publication? Or was Mo just too eager to pounce on GWB's statements of today?

Ha! I was thinking #19.

The New York Times, always looking for some way to bash President Bush and the US,
has now sent out General Dowd to tell the military what to do.
ROTFLOL

Maybe if we dress her up like a war correspondant and drop her into Kabul so she can report first hand. What a dumb broad.

This represents Maureen's annual token "I'm really a patriot at heart" column.

To paraphrase something once said to me in my youth ( justly ): She talks like a woman with a paper a$$hole.

Ooops. Closing tags.

It's been known for years that Osama bin Laden wanted to go nuclear. So why would the president gild the plutonium lily by invoking a nuclear threat now, when Americans are already wincing and flinching their way through life? Why put fangs on a vampire? Maybe because they are much closer to this capability than before. Maybe because he has our attention and action is more necessary than before.
To: Pokey78
The president should not have to pump up his case with ominous threats in the future. He can simply point to the past. The rubble is still smoking in New York. He should put down the bullhorn and tell Rummy to get moving. But he is moving. What, is it time to start bombing civilians?
To: Pokey78
This penetrating analysis shows that Dowd's time on the Joint Chief's staff was well spent.

Osama reminds her of Michael Douglas and the war is symbolic of her struggle with Catherine Zeta Jones for his affections. (Do I win anything?)
