Bob Woodward still marvels at Gore's "statesmanlike" speech, repeats "Supremes made Bush president"

Sorry, legal predicate for a recount: finding of machine error. None found in the 3 counts. The law is clear. Voter error, is not machine error and is not a vote. You can't cure a non-vote on a system designed for a machine count by manipulating and degrading the cards. That is the law, despite the best efforts of the Florida liberals to enact a coup..

Actually heard Chris Matthews suggest that Americans are tired of political hacks like Gore, Mondale, Dukaka.....not sure why he dragged their names in.......the man uses some mind altering drugs IMHO.

Uhhh, I may be mistaken, but Gore lost the election not because of Florida, but because he lost his home state of Tennessee. Woodward is still dreaming of his glory days from the 70's. Some grow, others blow.

An airhead news reader and a has-been reporter. Wasn't woodward the guy who supposedly "interviewed" Bill Casey while Casey was in a coma?

"Please, ABC, give us all a big break from your one-year anniversary of mourning for your Sore Loserman!"

Thank God for Fox News. . .and of course, Fox & Friends in the morning.

It does not surprise me that Woodward, whose labored, sonorous, monotoned voice which labors then births every syllable. . .would find Gore's vacuous speech; both in content and delivery. . .somehow pleasing to his ear. . .not so strange. . .really.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the crucial Supreme Court decision, the one that really put the nail in Gore's coffin, a 7-2 vote?

Yes, and in true Orwellian style, I'd wager that fewer than 30% of the American public realizes this a year later...it's gone down the Memory Hole. Moreover, the TRUE divided court was the FL Supreme Soviet, which issued a bitterly divided 4-3 ruling to keep Gore's hopes alive...including a brilliant, stinging dissent from Chief Justice Wells who, to that point, had sided with the Gore camp.

Finally, the standard issue "Bush won by 1 vote" blather assumes that...if Bush lost in the Supreme Court, then Gore would have won the election. Nothing could be further from the truth. Every stupid media analysis of the ballots we've seen shows that Bush would've won unless you count (1) ballots that were backed over by trucks and (2) DNC business cards with the inscription "I vote for Gore" on the back.

Funny how absent these professional investigative journalists were during the eight years of Clinton/Gore scandals. How did Woodward miss Dean's needing to retrieve his girlfriend's photo from the pile of DNC escort photos in the secretary's desk at DNC headquarters (call-girl ring located next door to DNC headquarters) as a motive for the Watergate break-in?

Good thing that the only people who care what Bob Woodward has to say are the morons who regularly watch Good Morning Amerika and us freepers.

What bugs me most is the vote was 7-2 that the recount was UNCONSTITUTIONAL. But nobody ever remembers that! The 5-4 was to STOP the recount only. The liberals just can't handle the 7-2 vote.

If any of you have not seen the comedy "Dick", I highly recommend that you do.

I know, you're expecting it to be the standard Nixon bashing fest that Hollywood always produces, and they do give Nixon a good bashing.

But Nixon is nowhere near the most abused guy in the movie. He comes across us something of a lovable jerk. And the girls (who are the stars of the plot) are quite funny.

But far and away, the targets in this movie are Woodward and Bernstein. They are played by Will Farrell (from SNL) and one of the guys from Kids in the Hall (I don't know his name.)

They are so relentlessly mocked, coming across as the two nine-year-old idiot boys in way over their heads. I don't know what Hollywood was thinking when they let two heroes of the left get pounded so bad.

I'm telling you true, if you hate Woodward and Bernstein as much as I do, you will love the ruthless bashing they take in "Dick".

RE#1

Woodward to acknowledge the U.S. then would not have veterans of the
Persian Gulf War directing it, such as Cheney and Rumsfeld.

Yeah, let's see who would be running it. Freepers, suggest a few.

Here's some starters:
Clinton would run defense.
Woodward would be press secy. Reno would bring charges
against soldiers who shot at Osama.

Woodward is a "One-Hit Wonder" still hoping to find another Richard Nixon to crucify.
For the rest of us, it's 30 years later.

Woodard has to downplay every single world event so that nothing will EVER be bigger than Watergate. It's vital to his self-esteem, you know.

And, just last week he said that it was not foreign terrorists that sent the Anthrax throught the mail, it was our very own home-grown disenchanted.

Woodward stinks.

If you hate them, be sure to read Nora Ephron's Heartburn. She was married to Carl Bernstein and she found out he was cheating on her with the wife of the ambassador from England. So, she wrote a book based on their lives.

Believe me, she got him back......I laughed all the way through it.

Best lines:

Nora: I want him back.

Shrink: You're making progress; last week you wanted him dead.

Nora: I want him back, but I want him back dead.

Classic! Perhaps we should send Al Gore to Afghanistan so he can win the war for us too.

"Supremes made Bush president"

Convicted felons that illegally voted almost made Gore president. Even most liberals know that Bush won by the rules.

This is so pathetic. So, he gave one decent speech of his political career. One concession speech does not make up for the sheer hell he drug the entire country through for 37 frickin' days. Get real. Gore's a loser.
