I have been watching since this first happened and the *story* changes with rapid regularity, which one might expect. However, there are SOME things that haven't changed, and THESE things make the one engine theory almost ridiculous. It's more of a *no panic scenario* they are trying to pass off. Sorry, but I don't buy *accident* and here is why.
1. Pilot contact with the tower was lost at least 5 minutes before the plane went down.
2. The jet was completely full of fuel, which made the total weight of the plane at least 700,000 pounds. Completely full just like the planes which hit the Twin Towers.
3. BOTH engines came off the plane AFTER an explosion, according to eyewitnesses who have since been avoided like the plague.
4. If the fuselage blew, it gives credence to the scattering of one engine far to the left and the right engine far to the right of the main crash site. The fuselage did not come down as a unit. It came down in pieces, some as fireballs, in a neighborhood with a large population of Firefighters and Policemen. Pure speculation would be that it was an attempt to further engender a feeling of abject helplessness on a population which has already been traumatized to the nth degree.
5. The Airbus is designed to be able to fly AND land in the case of a failure of one engine. Had it been an engine failure, they were close enough to JFK to go around and land, though it might have been a hard landing, but the chances of BOTH engines falling off at the same time, or failing at the same time are next to nil.
6. The very latest report I have heard, is that there WAS and explosion FIRST before the plane came apart.
7. The date, 11, 11, 01, the fact that it IS a federal holiday when most of people who would have been at work would have been at home at that hour of the morning, has GOT to raise a million red flags. Most of these people have already been in the thick of 9/11, and THIS targets their families.
9. The fact that the plane exploded most of its fuel in midair could have been a miscalculation on the part of whoever might have done this, because the damage would have been far more devestating.
10. BECAUSE of the NTSB's dispicable handling and subsequent cover-up of TWA 800, and the fact that IT has been classified lately by too many in-the-know people, as a terroist act, a bombing, sets my teeth on edge as far as THIS incident is concerned. All of this points to what is uppermost in my mind, which is that airline security MESSED up, yet again. Remember, please, that I posted a little circulated article that an American Airlines Uniform, pilot's license, and cockpit keys were stolen from a car in the Newark Airport parking lot scant days ago and never found.
If you want to strike fear in the common people, hit the common people in the neighborhoods where they live, on a day when America is celebrating the American Military, and Mike Moran was one of those interviewed on camera, in Queens, and he was the one who issued the challenge to Bin Laden to come and get him. Coincidence that Mike lives in Rockaway?
If so, that is one too many coincidences for THIS freeper to accept.

The non happening of this event is evidence against your theory. 10. I don't understand this point of your's. Please elaborate? Could they possibly have been wanting the fuel to spread in an attempt at an FuelAirExplosive-like explosion?

Those firefighters and policemen have been through far too much, as have their families. I wish they'd let people like me who have been firefighters come to help them so that they can take short breaks and know that they aren't in this alone before they crack under this pressure(I'm not saying they are weak! Far from it, but they are only human and have had so much to bear in these last two months). Heck, not only that but I helped with civil defense AND I know farsi and arabic. Hmm I also lived in the midst of the arabs long enough to know how to push their buttons. I wish I could help, I know I could help, and I feel so helpless sitting here.

Oh well. I'll pray.
