FBI: Explosion Aboard Airbus

CNN quotes the White House, to wit: The FBI believes there was an explosion aboard the American Airlines A-300 which crashed this morning in Queens, NY. They are investigating in an attempt to learn the source of the explosion.

You are right, the tail engine was down but they had engines #1 and #3 which they used to steer the plane, it was amazing that anyone lived

I don't have any hard data to support this, but if I had to guess I was guess that this type of failure generally does not result in the engine/wing coming off resulting in a plane crash.

I have been watching since this first happened and the *story* changes with rapid regularity, which one might expect. However, there are SOME things that haven't changed, and THESE things make the one engine theory almost ridiculous. It's more of a *no panic scenario* they are trying to pass off. Sorry, but I don't buy *accident* and here is why.
1. Pilot contact with the tower was lost at least 5 minutes before the plane went down.
2. The jet was completely full of fuel, which made the total weight of the plane at least 700,000 pounds. Completely full just like the planes which hit the Twin Towers.
3. BOTH engines came off the plane AFTER an explosion, according to eyewitnesses who have since been avoided like the plague.
4. If the fuselage blew, it gives credence to the scattering of one engine far to the left and the right engine far to the right of the main crash site. The fuselage did not come down as a unit. It came down in pieces, some as fireballs, in a neighborhood with a large population of Firefighters and Policemen. Pure speculation would be that it was an attempt to further engender a feeling of abject helplessness on a population which has already been traumatized to the nth degree.
5. The Airbus is designed to be able to fly AND land in the case of a failure of one engine. Had it been an engine failure, they were close enough to JFK to go around and land, though it might have been a hard landing, but the chances of BOTH engines falling off at the same time, or failing at the same time are next to nil.
6. The very latest report I have heard, is that there WAS and explosion FIRST before the plane came apart.
7. The date, 11, 11, 01, the fact that it IS a federal holiday when most of people who would have been at work would have been at home at that hour of the morning, has GOT to raise a million red flags. Most of these people have already been in the thick of 9/11, and THIS targets their families.
9. The fact that the plane exploded most of its fuel in midair could have been a miscalculation on the part of whoever might have done this, because the damage would have been far more devestating.
10. BECAUSE of the NTSB's dispicable handling and subsequent cover-up of TWA 800, and the fact that IT has been classified lately by too many in-the-know people, as a terroist act, a bombing, sets my teeth on edge as far as THIS incident is concerned. All of this points to what is uppermost in my mind, which is that airline security MESSED up, yet again. Remember, please, that I posted a little circulated article that an American Airlines Uniform, pilot's license, and cockpit keys were stolen from a car in the Newark Airport parking lot scant days ago and never found.
If you want to strike fear in the common people, hit the common people in the neighborhoods where they live, on a day when America is celebrating the American Military, and Mike Moran was one of those interviewed on camera, in Queens, and he was the one who issued the challenge to Bin Laden to come and get him. Coincidence that Mike lives in Rockaway?
If so, that is one too many coincidences for THIS freeper to accept.

But, but,,,, the Dems, McCain, and a lot of FReepers, say we have to federalize and unionize the airport security workers or we won't have good people manning the X-ray screeners. Gee, I wonder who I should believe, Daschele and McCain, or Bush and Cheney? It's just soooo hard to decide.

Light traveling at 186,300 miles per second, and sound traveling at 750 miles per hour, means that light travels 894 thousand times faster than sound.

The non happening of this event is evidence against your theory. 10. At, say, 45 degrees F, the speed of sound would be about 752 mph. The speed of light, at 186,000 miles per second, translates to 669,600,000 mph. Slight difference, I'd say. :)

LOL, I guess it takes a USAF Academy grad to figure that out :)

Strangely enough, birds are one of the things that have all but been catagorically ruled out. Why the massive area scattered wreckage? Why did BOTH engines fall off? Birds would have cause the plane to crash, not explode over even half the area where the wreckage is scattered. There is even wreckage in the water. Another small point. Boeing did not build this aircraft. It was built in France.
I think we have been hit, and I think the gov. is doing a major disservice to us all by not acknowledging the witnesses on the scene. Everyone isn't a conspiracy theorist, but if they are silenced, it ain't going away any time soon and it makes it worse, not better. If they want our trust, they should a lot more up front about the eyewitnesses who were, after all, RIGHT THERE. The NTSB wasn't.

I am searching and searching but cannot locate it. I cannot remember the exact quote.

I just woke up and heard all this was going on..and to hear that Bush and whoever are still going to his ranch in Crawford, TX. Everything will go on as it was planned! Mustn't frighten the sheeples!! Bush! You are fiddling while Rome burns!!! You keep trying to lie to the people because you think calm is more important than to tell the people the very evident truth!!! WE AREN'T LITTLE DEMONRAT SHEELPLE/CHILDREN THAT NEED TO BE LED BY LIES!!!

I have been up about 10 mins, and one look at Queens told me that plane exploded in the air, with no warning from the crew..the crew apparently weren't reporting problems of any kind nor did any cock pit talking before the sound went indicate there was a problem!!! It exploded most likely due to a terrorist attack!!! Yet for now...the government has ruled terrorism out!!! You can't do that after what we've been through since 9/11!!! The least you can do is call it a possible terrorist attack until it's proven to be an accident!!! By almost immediately ruling out terrorism when we know darn well it probably is terrorism, you open yourself and your administration up to the people of this country distrusting you!!! Don't be like a clinton and stop treating us like kids!!! We need a leader! Not a big brother or father!!!

All they have to say is..there is a chance it's terrorism but there is also a chance it's an accident. I get so tired of them lying to us! </>rant

blurb this morning right before the crash concerning reversal of posse commititis (sp??), IOW allowing our military to (from what I understand) work as "law enforcement" within the continental US.

That's martial law. posse commititis (sp?) has to do with trial by jury. "Honest" Abe suspended it so that he could imprison (w/o trial) his detractors.
