Amen. Racial profiling is not discrimination. The terrorists were not named Smith or Cohen or Shemimatsu. There are valid grounds to investigate men of Middle Eastern descent to deter future terrorist atrocities. If Muslims are outraged at the U.S Justice Department's policy its time for them to pack their bags and move to where they won't be profiled. All the same this country will take all steps necessary to win the war upon terrorism and that includes tools in our arsenal like racial profiling. Its a new world now.

Is there valid ground to do this to all the men in Oklahoma and Indiana?

Racial profiling is not discrimination.

Think for just a second. Of course it's discrimination. Stop using the word like a Democrat. There's nothing inherently wrong with discrimination. It's what can keep you alive in iffy situations. People who abuse the word 'discrimination' also abuse the word 'prejudice'. 'Prejudice' is what enables you to react in a certain situation without having to waste time thinking about it, time wasted that can lead to BAD things. If you're parked downtown late, late at night and are approached by a stranger as you try to open your car and you just jump in and drive away, you're acting in a prejudiced manner--if you wait to judge the situation on its actual merits instead of a possible but definitely dangerous outcome, you may be acting in an unprejudiced way, but you're putting your life at risk. If you, a white guy, see the stranger is a young white guy and decide to wait and see what he wants, then you're also guilty failing to exercise proper discrimination.

Deciding to interview young foreign males is discriminatory, but it's proper, warranted discrimination because it was from this group that the Sept. 11 terrorists came.

Right. Critics nvere look at the actual cause for stopping a certain person, which is as often as not completely unrelated to race. A car without a taillight, or a missing or obscure license plat, or a luxury car "cruising" in a poor neighborhood.
