Thanks. My humble replies...

"to whom do I owe loyalty?

Family

Why?

Loyalty... Not to them---To You.O

By whom am I owed loyalty?

No one. It is earned.

What does 'duty' mean?"

In a specific sense to our times... To not forfeit what we have been given. On a broader theme... I have no idea.

Sounds awesome. I have been heading to a lot of football games lately and haven't done much. My Dad and Granddad took quite a few spots out of Murrells Inlet (south of Myrtle Beach) today. Wish I could have been there.

When you stack up freedom against equality, my friend, pick freedom every time.

Amen, my friend.

How can someone claim to be an atheist, yet still recognize the difference between right and wrong? Are love and hate really two different emotions? Or are they actually opposite ends of the same force? Why does Port Royal rum taste like sh*t? And for God's sake, why do we drive on the parkway and park in the driveway?!!

Ramblings of a 22-year-old who hates the rum he's been drinking.

If beer triggers this many questions, perhaps whiskey will provide the answers. But make it bourbon, maybe scotch, anything but Port Royal rum.

Been drinking bourbon this evening, trying to stop thinking about the sort of things this young person has posted. I am not destined for greatness and feel cursed to think too much like this person. Drinking may be the curse of the thinking class, but thinking may be the curse of the drinking class. Until we all pose these thoughts to ourselves, no question will be answered, and until we all realize that Robin Hood is not one of the good guys, {cuz stealing is wrong, no matter what}, we can justify a lot of bad actions. Keep on thinking this way, and keep on posting, you do us all a service in making us think about these things!

So many of us have such thoughts and philosophical questions- almost never shared. Thanks for the post.
Many chuckles and a few guffaws reading your repliers.

Everything which happens either happens in such a way that you are formed by nature to bear it or not to bear it.

If what happens to you is within your strength to bear, bear it without complaining; if it is beyond your strength, do not complain, for it will perish after it has destroyed you.

Remember however, that you are formed by nature to bear everything which your own opinion can make endurable and tolerable, by thinking that it is either your interest or duty to do so.

This may call for a totally new forum or permanent thread called say: "Drunken ranks on the stairway to heaven" or "The meaning of life from the bottom of the bottle". There would probably need to be one for the Libertarian crowd for when they are stoned named something like: "The Secrets of life I can't quite remember", or "Does anything matter when your neighbors are Narcs"...

And he kept it.

The Robin Hood story , that you think you know, isn't as old as the the originals, and is a fairly new / made over one. Either way, it is ALWAYS wrong to steal from someone and give it to another.

To Sum it up in fewer words, "Why do nice guys finish last?" is the question...

Why do the cheats, snakes and butt kissers advance in life, and the straight shooters seem to have hurdles the size of the Empire State?

Answer?...the only one I have is, you must make a choice early in life...maybe it will take you longer, but one has to decide what they want in life...inner peace or advancement. If you achieve both being a straight shooter, then the answer to your question is embedded in your aura. You are a naturally attractive human being.

If you achieve by not being a straight shooter, then you are generally on the receiving end of the questions you ask...

IOW...who sleeps well at night?

JMHO...
