What a bunch of looney-left wing defeatist. i say left wing because you sound just like them. as for your libertarian presidential canidate, all i can say is better luck next time. as for your conspiracy theorist, well isnt it funny how the only people that ever know about these conspiracies are a precious few living in montains, and their warnings never seem to come true or catch on with even a small fration of the populace. i guess we just arent as enlighened as you guys. yeah thats it.

Ok...s-l-o-w down...

Take a deep breath....

And then take out the old copies of the Declaration of Independence...and the Constitution...and maybe re-read the Federalist Papers.......and maybe Thomas Paines writings just to bring it all together.

Then think about it some...

I had to rush outside to look up -- and to my relief the sky was still there ... Whew!!!

I'm not a historical buff so I can't even begin to touch on all the why's and wherefore's of past deeds/misdeeds of our previous presidents (well -- Clintoon would be a no-brainer).

I do however, strongly disagree with you about Bush. The terrorists acts of 9-11 was a declaration of war on our country, therefore we are at war. Their actions declared it, therefore we don't have to for it to be official that we are at war.

If we do not aggressively destroy every terrorist network around the world, then we invite more of the same. Surely you have seen how too many clerics in too many Islamic countries are raising their children from the cradle to the grave to hate and destroy America. It is the clerics in these countries who assume the task of education. The governing/business side of these countries look the other way because it has been an accepted practice that the two entities are separate and do not encroach upon each other's territory. These clerics must accept a major portion of the blame, but so should the governing parties who keep their people in such poverty that they are pleased to have the clerics give the people a common enemy to blame -- America.

What we have now is a whole generation of bin Laden's -- who would nuke us if he had the capability!! Billions of dollars of aid from America to these impoverished countries has changed nothing. Do you really think kind words and negotiations will have any effect? Or that taking out a minute handful of their leaders will not leave their followers lined up to do the same?

This vast network of terrorists are out to destroy us incrementally or massively according to their capabilities. They have 'sleeper cells here in our backyard just waiting for the right opportunity

So far, 'civil rights' violations have only applied to foreigners, and maybe a few foreign citizens who supported them. We have no idea how many planned terrorist attacks have been thwarted thanks to our new alertness and these new laws that are nothing more than common sense in times of war.

But I will be watching, like many others, to see if these new laws are taken advantage of, and if it comes to that, then I will speak out vociferously.

You are one of the few writers I really look forward to reading Bob.

And just to throw one last shot in, I find the parallels between Bush and Wilson more than just a little bit disturbing.

You have said it yourself I believe. Bush may win a second term, but Hillary is waiting in the wings and just imagine that bitch wielding the PATRIOT Act.

I'm off to bed now. Clan Lurker is heading to the gun range to heat up some iron tomorrow morning. I picked up a really sweet old Enfield chambered in .308 recently and I just love shooting it. We are going to let Lurker Jr. pop off a few shots with the pellet gun my grandfather bought me for my tenth birthday as well.

The practice will serve him well when he opens up his last Christmas present.

Take care my friend.

Call over the weekend if the fit takes you.

Regards,

L

P.S. How goes your experiments with the laser?

I concur with you.

And I was fully expecting Smith at some point in his rant refer to Washington or Adams as subversives.

i dont have to think about it to logically come to the conclusion that not every single action is the result of a grand conspiracy against us. granted, in history leaders have abused powers, but to automatically declare the end times scenario over anything and everything is ridiculous. disagree fine, but to automatically declare the end of civilization and to run hiding in the shelter is absurd.

Yep.

It will be even easier when it's some mosque in Humpyerbuddy Kansas that gets burned to the ground.

The precedent has been set, and the die is cast.

Good night my friend.

"Surely you have seen how too many clerics in too many Islamic countries are raising their children from the cradle to the grave to hate and destroy America."

Funny thing,in a ironic sort of way, is just how many people here do the same thing.

Raise their children to hate America...the America that was 'given by God'...the America that was created so that each and everyone of us might be Free....The America that tried to make sure that any government wouldn't become a de-facto dictator.

In the end, however, as in the beginning, I am an individualist. It's more than just an ideological stance, it's the way I look at the world. I began to feel better when I realized that there are -- and always have been -- two separate and distinct Americas: my America, the America of Thomas Paine, the Declaration of Independence, and the Bill of Rights; and another America, the America of Alexander Hamilton and his rapacious, bloodthirsty, cannibalistic descendants to whom power is more important than money or sex or food or any moral, ethical, or legal principle ever known to humankind, and who will do anything -- absolutely anything -- to obtain, enhance, and consolidate it.

"Anarchist" is probably a better word to describe Neil, along with "ideologue" and maybe "adolescent." "Manichean" is another good epithet.

There are more than "two Americas." Or maybe there are fewer. But in any case they are not so "separate and distinct" as he makes them out to be.

It's a little hard to recognize Alexander Hamilton as a cannibalistic Vampire. Maybe he's thinking of George Hamilton in "Love at First Bite."

Washington, Adams, Jefferson, Madison and most of the rest of us fall between these two caricatured extremes.

But if it makes Neil "feel better" I suppose he'll go on thinking as he does.

Greetings, my friend. It's good to see you're still cutting through the bs with a clear voice.

I'm sorry to say that one of my first thoughts, on 9/11, was, "How is this going to effect our freedoms?!" (as U.S. citizens)

Many were expecting some ploy to be used under Clinton/Reno, to further, and severely, curtail our liberties. I am not among those who believe our own government had anything to do with the events that occured on 9/11. However, if misguided efforts to increase "security", in reaction to those events, have the same result, then we are in exactly the same place to which the dreaded "ploy" would have taken us.

Franklin's words have never had more meaning.

The only hope left is that the government will realize that we are not the problem nor are we the enemy.

Regards

You did not directly address my point -- the clerics in these Islamic nations are raising a whole generation of bin Ladens. How would you suggest that we put a stop to terrorism when is is so in-bred in these impressionable minds?

To answer your question, you have but to look at the red/blue maps. The parents in the red sections do not teach their children to be anti-american. It is our public educational system that is doing that and I am at a loss to see how they gained such a strong-hold. Well, no -- I am not at a total loss. I have only recently discovered that my 26-year old was being taught the liberal bend throughout most of her education. And all this time, I thought I had known what was going on in her schools.

"It is our public educational system that is doing that and I am at a loss to see how they gained such a strong-hold."

The Final 'fault' lies with every single parent who allowed someone else to raise and teach their children.

The Final 'fault' lies with every single citizen who allows those in government to decide thier fate.....without speaking up...and sometimes ranting and raving.

The entire foundation of this Nation, and the guardian of it's Freedom, is a armed and knowledgeable population. One bent on remaining Free....no matter what.

Sadly...most people have abdicated thier responsibilities....and have allowed thier Rights to be taken from them, Rights that were bestowed by God.

It will take a lot of sweat and blood to regain the Promise of America.

redrock

p.s....yes..some clerics are teaching the ignorant to hate America. BUt B-52's will NOT help the situtation......only a Free America will.

Texan through and through, huh? Born in Connecticut to two yankee parents and educated in New England makes him less than what you describe. He hasn't read the Bill of Rights, only commentary on it written by Laurence Tribes.
