You *do* realize that we've heard this before. It was supposed to happen with the Narnia books and the Tolkien books. Christian Charles Williams' darker books were supposed to do this. As was Star Wars and L'Engle's books. Dungeons and Dragons was supposed to cause this. Now HP.
Starting to see a pattern here with being reactionary? If we keep crying "wolf," who will believe our real message?
I am a Christian. I have read the Potter books and seen the movie, as have several of my Christian friends. IMO, these stories teach many other lessons than witchcraft. Just a few examples:
1. Love is stronger than evil.
2. Sacrificing yourself for the good of others is worthy.
3. Standing up against those who are doing something you think is wrong - even if they are your friends - is important.
Yes, the characters use magic, but it is only a tool for fighting the bad guys, as in many other fictitious, fantasical books.
Key word: fictitious. Magic wands made from phoenix feathers, cloaks of invisibility, dragon-skin gloves, pictures that are alive, etc. do not and cannot exist in our real world. Therefore, any "witchcraft" dependent on them does not and cannot exist, either.
The kids I know are well aware of the difference between fiction and reality, and know that the "witchcraft" taught to Harry Potter is fiction. They just enjoy reading and seeing a good story.
I agree. I worry about the children playing with withchcraft since it is glorified in the movie. This is an invitation to the devil to enter their lives.
With all the sad events that happen to us through our lifetimes, why invite the devil into your life?
Also, notice that the Harry Potter books will be allowed in the schools but the Bible and God is not. Therefore the entry way to satanism and witchcraft will be allowed while God is barred. What a wonderful way to teach our children. What a gift us enlighten parents are presenting our children.
Not me. This is a movie and a writer that sees no harm in glorifying witchcraft and leading the little ones to the trough. Any little ones I know are too valuable to tempt the devil with.
