Marge Gunderson: "There's more to life than a little money, ya know. Don'tcha know that? And here ya are. And it's a beautiful day. Well. I just don't understand it."
Police in Detroit Lakes, Minn., said they have yet to determine what caused the death of a woman from Japan last month -- six days after she was spotted in Bismarck on an apparent mission to find money buried in a scene from the movie "Fargo."

Perhaps she took the opening credits of
Fargo too seriously, when it stated that the movie was based on actual events. I guess the director and all those actors deserved those Oscars!

"OK, so we got a trooper pulls someone over, we got a shooting, these folks drive by, there's a high-speed pursuit, ends here and then this execution-type deal."

This has nothing to do with the article other than I couldn't watch Fargo, because of the exaggerated Minnesota accents.
I will say this, Minnesotans have a much thicker accent than they think. If you live there you don't notice it. But, if you live there, leave, and then come back, the accent is all you hear.

Great movie!
I would have put money down on the idea that WJM's Murray Slaughter would have been asked to provide an alibi.

LMAO! Silly, thank you for posting this. I loved
Fargo.
To this day I still laugh my ass off. Even when that one dude is pushing Steve Buschemi's foot through the wood chipper.

I used to live there, and believe me, the accent is not exaggerated -- at least not in northern Minne-soh-ta. The Coen brothers, who directed it, are also from Minnesota.
By the way, I amuse my NYC friends by doing the accent perfectly. When I went home recently, in the airport, the lady from Northwest Airlines on the loudspeakers made me laugh out loud as she directed people to the proper line.
I also do a great Jesse Ventura voice, which is quite different in tone (much rounder) than the nasal, up-inflection of the northern Minnesota accent.

Bwhahah. One of my friends is a Minnesota native and has an accent. I really don't know how to describe it.
I think it's on its own, like a yooper accent stands alone.(Upper Penn of Michigan)

"Oh, I just think I'm gonna barf... Well, that passed. Now I'm hungry again."
And one of my favorite bits of dialogue:
Marge Gunderson: Hon?
Norm Gunderson: Yah?
Marge Gunderson: Prowler needs a jump.

Maybe she was a relative of ... Will the libertaliban ideologues allege police brutality somehow? There HAS to be a cover up because the newscasters are not reporting on the doings of the police that day in Fargo. They'll allege anything to further the Great Greens Cause of discrediting self-governance, you know.
