Not far off of the truth, I live here and went to school there. Academics has always taken second or third fiddle to the FB program and has suffered from this since the early 70s when I went to school there. Back then, I knew several local police who related all of the crap big red players got into, some of which was common knowledge on campus, and it seems that anything short of murder would be forgiven and swept under the rug. It seems to be the same now. I told my kids that if they wanted to go to a state school in Nebraska, then go to the University at Omaha, much less caught up in the big red rooter frenzy and much more emphasis on academics. And yes, they seem to have a lot of under the counter support in the polling orgs.

Being from the inside of the Nebraska program (to some this puts my credibility in question, I understand) I believe it is a great program, perfect, No. No Competitive programs are! When you recruit young, aggressive, and capable men, guess what you get. Yes there are some infamous discipline problems. Not as an excuse, but name another large group of similar demographics who doesn't.
Some reminders, Nebraska leads the nation in Academic All-Americans
Nebraska and thier fans had the courage after the crimes of 9/11 to follow the lead of our Commander in Chief and try to get moving again the did and hit the Gridiron.

Also, those who are closest will be able to see local problems but not be able to see similar problems elsewhere.
BTW its just a game.....
