Survey finds 10 partners before marriage 'normal'

The majority of young people think it is normal for a person to have at least 10 sexual partners before marriage.

A survey has also found that three in 10 believe it is acceptable for a girl to lose her virginity before the age of 15.

Research carried out by Brook, the youth sex advisory service, says there is a "cultural change" in young people's attitudes towards sex.

Some 64% of men and 54% of women agreed that it was acceptable for a person to sleep with more than 10 partners before getting married.

But the survey, which questioned people aged 17 to 25, also showed that they wanted more information about sex and contraception.

Men admitted to getting most of their knowledge about contraception from TV and magazines, while women learned the most from magazines and their mothers.

Half of all the young women surveyed said they wished that teachers had supplied them with more information about preventing pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases.

Brook chief executive Jan Barlow said: "Young people have an increasing number of sexual partners and they are saying that's OK.

"But at the same time they don't have the information and access to services that they need.

"Young people must seek out advice and information in order to make their choices and to understand how to protect themselves both against pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases."

"Soundd like they are getting quite a sexual education and will pass down there lowered ethics to their children as a result."

That is what has happened to this generation. It will continue getting worse. Morality is largely a thing of the past, and doing whatever feels good is the order of our times.

I believe they are confusing the terms "normal" and "common".
Ten may be "common", but that does not make it "normal".
This faulty logic is behind the "everyone does it" rationale.

It is rather stupid to confuse Christianity and the false religion of Islam.

Then why would you make a stupid statement like: "If America doesn't turn back to Christ, it deserves to be ruled by Muslims".

That seems to confuse the two.

Some patriot you are--you and OBL see America the same way. You simply disagree on what you call 'God' and the 'book'.

There's this concept called self-control you should try practicing

Funny how the ones who are married and don't have to sleep alone are always the ones saying that.

"Thanks for pointing that out. I thought it was an American survey. I wonder how the U.S. compares."

I understand it is much the same. Some people say that Britain is further down the road, but I don't think so. Britain and America have been exchanging cultures for many years now. The results have not been good.

Conditions are rapidly declining now. I was last in Britain some 12 years ago. We were able to walk down London streets without thought of crime. My parents-in-law were there about 3 or 4 years ago, and they said that pickpockets are really a problem now. There are signs posted telling people to beware of the pickpockets. That is only one thing that has changed for the worst in recent years. The decline is coming faster.

In America, we have the rapid spread of drugs. The teens are especially fond of "ecstacy." They are using other drugs as well. As for sex, girls on a casual date are expected to put out. They know the rules and they comply.

I saw a survey once that said that the average age in America for a girl to lose her virginity is down to 16. And that is the average age. Many teens are fond of "parties" with booze, drugs, and sex. The schools are now handing out condoms. Many teens use the condoms, but others don't. I was driving around some boys the other day. They were listening to a local radio station that was playing the standard filth that the young people listen to now. The radio DJ made a comment about, "fill her faster than a drunken prom date."

Sex, drugs, and booze is what the young people know, and this generation is a real "interesting" group.

Well, I was a parent who supported teaching abstinence before marriage and it worked for my four children who are now married adults.

Oh, sorry...forgot that sleeping around at age 15 and having multiple partners in a world full of deadly STDs is "normal".

I'm probably a lousy parent by today's standards...

"Ten may be "common", but that does not make it "normal"."

What is normal to one does not have to be normal to someone else. If you work at an Instutition for the Criminally Insane, the common thing is for the person there to be an insane criminal. They do outnumber the staff members. For most of the people there to be criminally insane establishes the commonality and normalcy as deviant behavior to the staff members who are not insane or criminals.

On the other hand, the individual insane criminal can see the staff members as being deviant and different from him- or herself. In the way that the Institution is a society, the situation is the same in the larger society, which is our nation.

What is common and normal for the larger proportion of society establishes both the commonality and the normalcy for that society. That is why the left has been so busy changing society to its own image of what is normal and common. They have used different means to achieve their ends, but they have been very successful. And you can see just how successful they have been by comparing how our society is now based on what it was not so many years ago.

This change can not be solely attributed to a rule of evolution of a society based on advances. The changes have been both technological and moral. It is the moral change in which we now find out ourselves up the proverbial creek.

"I'm probably a lousy parent by today's standards..."

Well, I guess that your behavior was not normal based on the rest of society, but it is highly commendable and desirable.

"Funny how the ones who are married and don't have to sleep alone are always the ones saying that."

You could, perhaps, try marriage yourself. There is someone for everyone.

A lot of you may not remember, but conservatives warned about all of this when they opened the first drive-in theaters.

I read recently that, notwithstanding this article's thesis, the average number of sex partners prior to marriage for most people is 4 or 5. A far cry from 10.

Reminds me of a Churchill joke. Remember the one about, we have already established what you are, we are now negotiating the price?

Did I understand you correctly? If you teach kids to be pure, there is not need to specifically teach them about contraception and STDs?

highschool boy knows what the h3ll a condom is..

It is a well known fact that many males would prefer to avoid the raincoat. It is really the girls that need to know about condoms, where to get them, how to apply them them in a manner that will be acceptable to their hot male buddy and how to judge if they are being used properly.

Where do they find these mutants?

They're the offspring of other mutants.
