And you alone hold that knowledge, I see.

Wrong.

Look in the mirror. You need to quit projecting. It makes you look pretty foolish.

I've seen that many times. There is no rhyme or reason to it.

Thank you!

FR is a political forum and I find it sad that politics is turned into the be all and end all. Ultimitely what the government does or does not do doesn't make you unfree, it's how you think and act and conduct yourself. Even if the government were abolished we would still be subserviant to the laws of gravity, thermodynamics etc. There is an attitude here amoungst people that all we need to do is reduce government and the world will become some sort of Nirvana. It will not.

I've given you some good advice

That wasn't good advice. It was an opinionated, arrogant personal attack. Let us have the right to express our opinions without attacking them. Debate is honorable, emotional attacks are tactics used by the left.

BTW, I do not know Victoria Delsoul and she did not call me in to help. I just felt she made more sense than others posting on this thread and that she was be attacked unfairly.

Thanks for the flag, WW.

I haven't spent much time around here lately, usually just a glance at the headlines and I'm off, but today I have had some time to kick back and freep. I found your flag and read this thread. And really enjoyed the original post, and Victoria's thoughts and perspectives at #48. That was insightful and very interesting. I love it when someone can change my mind about what I am thinking. Victoria, you did exactly that. Good job!

I have to say that I am very flattered to be quoted by you, WW, in #99. You also quoted or mentioned Tennyson, Thoreau, Solzhenitsyn, Shiransky, Walesa, Wu, Valladeres, Biscet, Contreras, AND ME!!! Whoa...... and I was FIRST! After swelling my head like this, I hate to attack you, but I am going to do so anyway. DID YOU READ WHAT YOU QUOTED??? HUH, DID YUH??

"Never argue with idiots. They'll drag you down to their level and defeat you with experience." -- DeSoto

Let me give you another similar quote:

Never wrestle with pigs: -- Everyone gets dirty, but the pigs enjoy it

Sometimes, you hear me, but ya ain't listening. LOL! (I also remember how much you like this tiny font. Have you got glasses yet? LOL!) 8^) Luv ya, man! Stay well!

Luis, just wanted to say hello, hope things are going OK, look forward to reading your latest work.

Good heavens man! You HAVE been missed!

My latest work has been work lately, real work. I'll be writing again soon, after the season is over, and I have time again.

Great to hear from you, hope to talk to you before Christmas, but if I don't, have a Merry Christmas, and may you and yours be blessed that, and every day of the year.

Thank you for the kind words, my FRiend, and the good advice which I all too often ignore. Good to see you back on FR, it reminds me of the good old days.

BTW, I'll have you know that thanks to your ribbing with the tiny fonts, I did have my eyes checked and I did get new glasses. I can see the tiny fonts just fine (as long as I remember to tilt my head the right way ;-) )

Peace and God's blessings to you and your family this Christmas!

Your friend always,
WW

Well, I've never heard of this woman before, never read anything by her before, either. I see some of myself in her; I've always been labeled a trouble maker, don't "go with the flow," always have to "open my mouth," and "spill my guts" about what irritates me with our politicians and the laws they're making. And I get laughed at, about what I see coming: don't get told I'm wearing a tin hat, but that's about what they think. And my kids, they're too young right now, but I think I irritate them with my "fanaticism" too (I educate them, too, ya know). I wonder the stories women like Deb Pulaski could have told a hundred years ago--how sad would they be with our Republic? Thanks for the post. Makes you think. Makes you want to pray harder that people will open their eyes and stop being such sheeple.

I in no way came on this thread to argue with William Wallace, sirgawain, or most of all, you.

Nah, you just came in to insult Victoria and anyone who happened to agree with her and expected us to take it. The truth is you CLAIM you didn't come here to argue, but your comportment on this thread belies your words.

For example:

WW (to Texoma): Victoria Delsoul lost both her grandfathers to Fascism, in Franco's Spain and Mussolini's Italy. I daresay she knows a great deal more about freedom and tyranny than someone like you.

You (apropos of nothing): I know of someone who lost three uncles (fathers, husband, sons, and brothers each) defending freedom and defying the attempts of power hungry governments from doing even more destruction. Does that mean this person knows more about how to defend true freedom than anyone else?

You dismiss someone's personal tragedy by turning it into a joke and a topping contest! Do you compare tattoo sizes with Holocaust survivors too? You should be ashamed of yourself, but that requires a conscience.

You implied that I was a hypocrite for calling Texoma on her personal attacks, equating my criticism of an article with the juvenile name calling directed at Victoria and others. This after you insulted Victoria and sirgawain who never has a bad word to say to anyone. The hypocrite on this thread is you.

You accuse us of making unwarranted assumptions about the woman in the article on the basis of just one article. Well what else do we have to go on? Yet you have no problem making unfair assumptions about sirgawain's motives on the basis of ONE post out of literally THOUSANDS of posts he's made.

You insinuated (without evidence) that the ONLY reason sirgawain would change his mind was because he and Victoria have a relationship. You simply made up a story about them, belittling him and implying that no one could have been persuaded by her post, and tried to hide your insults behind a faux compliment (she's a nice girl, she wouldn't drop you for that!)

Incidentally, did it ever cross your mind that this dying woman whose honor you are defending might be a literary device used by the author of the piece to make her ideas more palatable? And that you attacked a real person who befriended you from the day you came to the forum in defense of a fictional character? You insult her and call her names (all because of ONE post, but how dare we judge this woman based on ONE article!) Victoria responds to your insults with civility and you act like you were the one who was insulted! Do I detect a note of *jealousy* perhaps? Can you say mea culpa Susan? I knew you could.

What really galls me is when you first started posting, most people ignored you, but Victoria made it a point to respond to you. She started flagging you and encouraged me to do likewise, simply because you were new and she remembered what it was like to be a newbie and be ignored by most FReepers. But now you that you have your little clique, so you can afford to trash the one person who befriended you when you didn't know anyone. YOU are the one who should be ashamed of yourself!

LOL! And don't forget I taught her how to bookmark threads, and Internet links. Seriously, I don't expect anything from anyone. I guess, sometimes negative emotions take hold of people. I just hope that whatever their problems are, the outcome is good.
