Several months after his first election he told me he was living in the Congressional gym.

But, is he a millionaire now? I hope not.

Dunno.... should be easy enough to find out.

IHC, doesn't bringing Alvin Rabushka's idea of a flat tax to the American consciousness count for anything?

The Democrat he beat sure is one.

Cheney was also here (OKC) on Friday for a fundraiser for J.C.! Looks like the caveman is getting around!

I just saw this on the news and I'm very upset and shocked. First Gramm and now Armey. I don't know what to think. Sigh....

I loved Clinton's SOTU addresses. Not because I liked Clinton but because I enjoyed watching Armey's stone face looks, never clapping or standing up. It was always entertaining to watch the Republicans during Clinton's speeches.

I'll miss Dick Armey. He and Orrin Hatch are my favorites in Washington. They don't dance around and they call it like they see it.

I forgot to add J.C. Watts and Steve Largent to my list of favorites. And of course I love Kay Bailey.

Unfortunately you are right, Armey was part of the big GOP rollover on Clinton's last set of budget bills. I was very disappointed in all the GOP leadership last year. It is incredible to me to think that Clinton could have sustained vetoes of any of those bills for NOT spending MORE of our money! I will never figure out why this happened. And there went the surplus that we all should have gotten back in tax cuts or President Bush would have available to fight terrorists and restore our military.

But you have to admit, Dick Armey is still The Man on tax cuts and economic growth. This was always his strong suit as an economist.

I have watched his progress in the House from that election on. I love him myself.

I can remember a lot of favorite moments but my all time favorite was at the hearing with Hillary and Health Care in her first term.

He insulted her with a smile on his face and she didn't even get it at first. The look on her face was priceless. This was a time when she was truly feared and no one had the guts to go up against her and he did it! I wish I could get the quote exactly right so I could post it. :)

"But, I really pray he will stay for one more term and I would pray he could get flat tax. I disagree with the writer that DeLay is a counter and not an idea man...couldn't be more wrong."

I wish he would stay. One more term with additional Republicans to help things along. He and Delay while they may clash from time to time, but they each play an important role.

Maybe the gossips are wrong on this one. Let's hope!

Favorite Armey quote:

After being asked how his wife would react if he confessed to marital infidelity, he responded

"While I lay in a pool of blood, she would be standing over me asking 'How do I reload this thing?'" (Paraphrased)

Gramm gone, now Armey? Great ... leaves us with a Congress populated almost exclusively with economic illiterates!

We're losing all the good guys. Who's next? Tom DeLay? At this rate, the Rockefeller-wing of the GOP will finally achieve dominance of the party. D@mn! I guess it only makes sense that the more competent members of congress retire and move onto more productive things ... leaving the career, worthless polito-whores in Washington to do their mischief.

Too bad Orrin was one of the Senate Republicans that spearheaded the effort to hijack the impeachment trial.

My favorite Armey moment was when he was slamming Clinton and the Democrats and called him "your President."

You've got to admit, Armey's "Barney Fag" was right up there.
