Can the people in the "Technology" section please help me to figure out why I can't seem to map receipt printers to a com-port of a network appliance in Win2000 terminal server over RDP protocal, and have the settings stay when people log out, and log back in? I'm singing the "Can't find an answer at microsoft.com blues". UNIX is more my speed. Sorry Alamo-Girl, for posting something not within the spirit of the thread, but desperation is taking hold.

I'm anxious to see the reply you get! I had a similar problem with two different com port scenarios (a printer and a scale ticket reader) on one terminal running windows on a Novelle dedicated server configuration. The com port was "seized" by the windows operating system no matter what I did. So to bypass the automatic plug-and-play (or whatever it is) on reboot so the system would respond to mode and other com port commands, I have the users disconnect the devices altogether before booting (LOL!)

Nice approach! I'm trying to configure these printers using the RDP protocol because the client is balking at the Citrix add-on ICA client. It's been driving me nuts. I can get it to work on my test-bed, but not at the site. Someone else configured the on-site network, so it must has something to do with permissions or policies.

AG, you need a program to search these profiles. Something where you just type in a name and the info pops up.

I'm sure some of the local FR computer geeks could set you up.

You might try Freep mailing one of the experts in the Technology section - they don't always drop by these threads and might miss your inquiry. Please do let me know what your final solution is!

That would be a great idea! And having it in a database format would make it much easier to maintain, too.

I shall be glad to add you! Would you rather be in the "Retired" section or the "Leisure" section? The retirees kinda split between the two...
