This is Japan's chance to help the coalition. Let's put them in charge of prisoners.
I'm sure there's somewhere over there they could march these ragheads to.

See in that second paragraph referring to OBL, "alleged terrorist mastermind". I thought we all got past that "alledged" stuff.

Al Quaeda can't be allowed to surrender or we are negotiating with terrorists.

OBL may not be there. However, I think he is weakened and will have a hard time at his next destination. More bombs please wherever that might be.

The commander added that the prisoners would be turned over to the United Nations and not the U.S. military. He did not clarify if that was one of the conditions of the surrender agreement. Right there, that tells me that this is BS. There are no UN personnel in Afghanistan to take control of any prisoners. Nor will we allow them.

"The commander added that the prisoners would be turned over to the United Nations and not the U.S. military. He did not clarify if that was one of the conditions of the surrender agreement"THAT is why I've never trusted those surrender "negotiations". We'll never know WHAT was rally agreed on.

I'll bet bin Laden the son of Satan is there and that is why they will only accept the UN to surrender to.

Every time these guys negotiate a surrender, the really bad guys seem to get away. Lets hope the Northern alliance won't let that kind of crap happen again.

Put them in one of those airtight Tupperware box cars for transport. Alliance commanders can just claim to be trying to keep the captured Al Qaeda's "fresh".
Apparently scores of Al Qaeda have suffocated in these boxes being transported to the prison yards. Darn those Tupperware box care people. I smell a products liability suit.

Take no al-Qaeda prisoners. EACH and EVERY one of them must be considered as a potential suicide hijacker and will seek to kill as many Americans as possible as long as they draw breath. REMEMBER 3 MONTHS AGO TODAY. TAKE NO AL-QAEDA PRISONERS!

The commander added that the prisoners would be turned over to the United Nations and not the U.S. military. He did not clarify if that was one of the conditions of the surrender agreement. This is the problem with fighting a proxy war. Our interests and objectives are not always protected.

At first, the Al Qaeda chiefs requested a three-day period to study their surrender, but when that was refused they asked if they could give their answer by 8 a.m. local time on Wednesday. However, that request was also turned down by the tribal leaders whose forces began their offensive after U.S. warplanes softened up the Al Qaeda with intensive air strikes.
In face-to-face talks with their enemy, the Al Qaeda fighters finally agreed to give up on Wednesday.
