That's rediculous. Sue them in small claims court.

I got my money back. After ignoring me for three months, a nasty letter from the MN AG fraud division finally woke them up. Within seconds of my account's liberation I closed the SOB.

Never again. Paypal used to be a deal, but with their new higher fee schedules and Beria-esque security, one is better off with a credit card.

No, they accepted money from a good email address. Actually two email addresses. But the people who sent me the money capitalized the first letter of my email address, so even though I got the email telling me I had money waiting for me, Paypal wouldn't let me collect it because of the capital letter. I lost the money on December 18. All my emails to paypal were answered with a big " Tough Deal, Lady".

Paypal is an interesting concept/business, but it REALLY wierds me out that they want access to my BANKING accounts in order to complete CREDIT CARD transactions that add up over time to $1,000 or more.

I purchase lots of gifts for my friends and family on eBay, so hitting a grand is fairly trivial (even bought a car through eBay), but NO WAY am I giving PayPal access to any of my checking accounts. I don't even see what my checking account has to do with completing credit card transactions in the first place. It's not like I'm a merchant who wants to get deposits from PayPal, I just want to pay for my winning auction bids.

And the only way to avoid giving PayPal your account number once you've won a grand's worth of eBay auctions is to keep using new email addresses to establish new accounts.

Either PayPal's own executives don't use PayPal for realistic high-income auction purchases, or else they don't mind if PayPal employees have access to their banking accounts, and it's been my experience that customers see real problems in a company when its executives don't use their own service...

Whoa....
Something about this "PayPal" stinks to high heaven. Glad I never got involved with it.
Are they affiliated in any way with ebay?

Hey All Y'All Guys

This is great, struwwelpeter!

I tried to respond to the FReeper, Badodeo, on another thread and get flagged that there is no such account -- but my PayPal experience is exactly the same as yours, except that those bums still have my money!

I will follow your example with the insurance co and see what happens.

Best ones -- B A

<< Grief with PayPal. Tried 6 times to make a contribution and was denied 6-times. Twice it would not accept my CC# then i was told it was an AVS mismatch, whatever the hell that is. Never had a problem before, why now? >>

I tried to make a simple payment with PayPal [I have a bank account link and a credit card link and -- thanks to PayPal having double-payed one of my payees and having refused to repay the money to my bank -- a healthy, positive cash balance] about twelve months ago and was refused and told my account was frozen by its "security" department for "my protection."

I have spent countless hours during the past year doing every stupid bloody thing PayPal [When that arrogant bunch of bastards even bothered to respond to my correspondence!] insisted that I do, including having eMailed them copies of my passport, drivers licence, bank statements and credit card bills -- and my account is still frozen and my money still tied up and unreachable by me in their system!

From my experience PayPal is a very bloody shonkey and crooked operation!

Drop it like a hot potato!

And thank you all for your input -- and addresses!

Thanks, BA. As I pointed out in my posts, these are crooked lawyers. There's just no doubt about it. The FBI will be the only ones who can get their attention. But that won't happen unless they receive a LOT of credible, well documented complaints. I realize that PP's services are used for FR contribs and that's fine with me. It's not my decision to make. But if online businesses that use PP are told WHY we won't be patronizing them, this could also put some pressure on PP to clean up their act or get out of Dodge.

Internet Fraud Complaint Center.

These people will respond. It's an FBI collaborative law enforcement program. They go after the most egregious law breakers and those against whom they receive the most complaints.

Not by me, they're not.

Not that bunch of thieving bastards!

Thank you for your help. Despite that the amount of my money involved is not going to break me, it IS MY MONEY and I am giving this as much energy as is required to succeed!

I used it once but got the double payment thing as well. It was cleared up, but it was such a hassle, I'll never use it again.

Try emailing this thread to every addy in their system, maybe they'll enjoy it.

I read an article claiming there are many, many complaints filed in court against PayPal. One of the biggest issues occurs on Ebay. If the seller renigs on the agreement and never ships his merchandise to the seller, the Purchaser STILL owes the money to PayPal. There are 3 independent transactions taking place: (1) The selling transaction between the Seller and the Purchaser (2) The payment from the Purchaser to PayPal and (3) The payment from PayPal to the Seller. They claim that the three are not interdependent. If the Seller renigs, Paypal reverses their payment to the Seller. But the contract between the Purchaser and PayPal still stands.

Also, they don't guarantee any large purchases. They advertise that there is no risk to the consumer, but that only applies to small purchases.
