Anyone have a working link? The KF Syndicate site says it's not available, and other sites that link to it are coming up empty also. Thanks...

Let's see Doonesbury try and top that.

Not fair. You made me misty-eyed. :-(
I had an interesting discussion the other week with a substitute pastor, a chaplain from the local community college. She attempted to convince me that answering violence with violence is not the answer, and we should pray for forgiveness and guidance. When I think of the people dead and trapped in those buildings on 11 September and the families left behind however ......... I harden my heart against these evil men and want to make the rubble in Afghanistan bounce some more.
Perhaps, in this religious season of peace and forgiveness, I'm behaving in an un-Christian manner. So be it.

I managed to get in. In case the link is broken, it's a cartoon of a mother and child looking out of the window into the night. In the sky is a bright star. On the table behind them (in the foreground for the reader) is a photo of a laughing fireman hugging the same little boy. On the right of the picture is this text:
Neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come . . . shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Jesus Christ our Lord. --Romans 8:38; Christmas, 2001

That is a great verse. It was my confirmation verse in 8th grade. Pretty powerful stuff!

Although I have made numerous requests to the commies at the Dallas Morning News to balance their editorial page Doonesbury cartoon with Mallard Fillmore, they refuse.

Apologies to those who had trouble with the link. My computer doesn't accept cookies, so I didn't know the cookie at the Seattle Post-Intelligencer would cause problems for others. In any case, a couple of people posted the cartoon, so scroll up and you'll see it. It's the one with the picture of the fireman, the star, and the verse from Romans 8:38.
It's certainly a mark of talent if a cartoonist can tell a whole story with just one frame and not even a single word of dialogue between the characters. And what a powerful story he tells.

Let's see how long this image is visible. Yes, it's a tearjerker. Thanks to Tinsley for Mallard!
