Triumph over DIVERSITY

I’m sure you have all seen the picture of three New York City Firefighters raising the American Flag in an Iwo-Jima style display amidst the rubble and ruins of the World Trade Center. It was an emotional and awe-inspiring sight—the perfect example of America’s ability to triumph over adversity. Of all the post 9/11 images I have seen, the photo of these heroic firefighters best represented the strength of America’s character and courage. The FDNY agreed, and commissioned a statue in their honor.

But there was one problem. The three firefighters, Dan McWilliams, George Johnson and Billy Eisengrein, are white.

In 21st Century America, it isn’t Politically Correct to be white, and a statue honoring their actions would be considered “offensive” to some—specifically those who worship at the altar of Political Correctness and “diversity.”

So the three formerly white firefighters were transformed into one white, one black, and one Hispanic. In other words, they re-wrote history to promote their agenda. The last time I checked, rewriting history was wrong, wasn’t it?

“Questions about race or ethnicity played no part in the brave deeds firefighters performed on Sept. 11, and it does a disservice to the memory of the thousands lost on that day to raise such issues,'' said Bruce Ratner, president and chief executive of Forest City Ratner Cos., the management company that provides funding for the statue.

With that statement, Ratner reveals the true intentions of the P.C. movement. He is making race an issue, while claiming he does not want to do so! Either he is a complete idiot, or he is an arrogant hypocrite. I suspect the latter. In the P.C. movement, two sets of rules are made—one for us, and one for them.

So, in celebration of these recent events, I will attempt to make a statue depicting the horrors of slavery in the US--except all of the slaves in my statue will be white males. Then I will paint a mural honoring WWII Holocaust victims—but just the Chinese ones, assuming there were any. (Don’t worry. My statue and mural will never be allowed to reach completion—it doesn’t fall into their narrow-minded, hypocritical value system)

Were there any white male slaves? Were there any Chinese Holocaust victims? Who knows. Who cares. To quote Kevin James, a member of the Vulcan Society, which represents black firefighters, the truth doesn't matter:

``The symbolism is far more important than representing the actual people,'' he said. ``I think the artistic expression of diversity would supersede any concern over factual correctness.''

Oh really? In other words, if you look at what he said closely, it appears that the truth doesn’t matter to him. But since when does the truth matter to the followers of the cult known as Political Correctness?

If we let this one slide, it gives them license to do it again…and again, until we have no idea what is real, or what is a censored, sterilized, Politically Correct version of the truth. One day you may wake up and find that Osama Bin Laden was in fact a red-haired Irish Catholic, so it would be more P.C. to hate him. (Don’t laugh! The villains in Tom Clancy’s upcoming movie are now eurotrash terrorists. They were originally middle-eastern in the book. The change was made to appease the P.C. crowd!) Remember, it is OK to hate, as long as you hate on the side of Political Correctness!

By the way, hang on to the WTC/flag picture if you have it, because the P.C. powers that be may digitally enhance the image, putting in a transgendered, wheelchair-bound Palestinian woman in the photo—“for diversity’s sake.” Or it may make the original picture “disappear” altogether. Mark my words.

These brave firefighters have proved America can triumph over adversity. But will we be able to triumph over diversity?

Very good commentary. :)

I wonder why a statue must be erected anyway. In the picture the firefighters were putting up a FLAG to honor their brethren and their nation. That's the moment. Leave the flag to fly - that says it all for everyone.
We are brother and sister AMERICANS united under the FLAG with that shared identity surpassing the barriers of race and ethnic background.
That's what the PC crowd is really afraid of - PATRIOTISM and BROTHERHOOD. They want to remind us of our distant "heritages" and different races, and never of our UNITY.

The answer is extremely simple, do the statue in bronze where there is no color. The issue remains the same though, QUIT REWRITING HISTORY TO FIT YOUR OWN AGENDA'S!!!. That goes out to anyone it applies to.

The answer is extremely simple, do the statue in bronze where there is no color.

It doesn't matter if the statue is bronze or stone, the issue will be the same. They will demand one of the statues have African facial features so Sharpton can go there to make a fundraising speech, and I am GUESSING we are all going to have to assume one of the other statues looks like a "Hispanic" because nobody really knows what a "Hispanic" looks like. This is because "Hispanic" is basically a modern word that means "ALL my ancestors came from Spain,SPAIN,DO YOU HEAR ME? My male ancestors were all Spanish Dons, and my mother is a direct descendant of Snow White! I do NOT have one drop of Indian blood in me,and anybody who says I do is a racist! This is just a tan."

I know one thing,if I were a NY fire fighter of Asian descent,I'd wait until they built the statue, and then I'd file a discrimination suit against them, just for grins and to push their faces in their own HorseHillary.

The issue remains the same though, QUIT REWRITING HISTORY TO FIT YOUR OWN AGENDA'S!!!.

Sadly, this is not going to happen.

BTW,why are YOU pinging ME? I thought you hate me? Ain't I supposed to be some kind of left-wind godless demon disruptor?

I haven't read all the comments, so I apologize if I am repeating something already stated.

Political correctness has now given complete absolution to the misrepresention of history. I know our institutions of higher "education" (at least liberal institutions) depict history to suit their agenda. Now we are to accept the misrepresentation of a heartwarming and ultimately historic event that occurred 4 months ago. One can only imagine the blatant distortion of incidents of historical importance that took place hundreds of years ago.

The ethical solution is to ensure that the flag raising statue provides an accurate depiction of the participants involved. If those who are charged with making these decisions wish to commission a statue to honor all rescue workers or victims, fine.

Turning an historic and stirring event into a blatant lie pays no homage to those who were not involved.

I would be curious however about how you would feel about all those white Jesus's out there all over the place.

It's poignant to bring that up. This controversy had me thinking the very same thing. There's a lot of pictures of Jesus out there with light brown hair and blue eyes.

With that statement, Ratner reveals the true intentions of the P.C. movement.

Ratner sez:

"If you oppose us rewriting history our way, it's because you are a 'bigot'"

PC Liberals say:

"If you oppose any part of our agenda, we'll simply find some proxy group to use and manipulate into fighting our battle for us."

Consider that in two hundred years parents will take their children to see this statue and both will believe it to accurately reflect a moment in history. "Diversity" and "Political Correctness" have no business entering into the production of this statue, as they will change history into fiction.

Not at all, just because we disagree on a lot of issues doesn't make you an evil person. Thank God for the United States where we can disagree.

The bronze issue was not a good one. We need to stop re-writing history for PC feel-gooders.

Glad to see you think this way. I do too. People who take arguements from one thread to another are so small-minded they never have anything worthwhile to say.
