After the 2000 election night, I am playing it conservative-no matter how many dead they can dig up to vote this will be an uphill fight for Riordan.
To: TonyInOhio
That 106% turnout in certain Detroit precincts certainly didn't help the President. :-) At least Cleveland and Toledo didn't have enough to tilt Ohio to the dark side.
To: archy
They asked Condit if he was nervous. He said, "No. I don't have a flutter in my heart or a pit in my stomach." Ha ha ha. Whatta liar.

That's a relief --- you almost had all of us scared there and if serves to drive conservatives who still haven't voted to the polls your update certainly will motivate them to get there before the polls close at 8 p.m. I'm in agreement with you there aren't enough dead, ex-felon, and non-citizen voters to help push Dickie Pooh over the top even though the Rats are notorious for vote fraud. Looks like we'll have two big victories to celebrate later on tonight.

there are less registered Republicans than Democrats so they have skewed the voting machines so that the GOP has to wait 15 minutes. Why does one need a partisan machine to vote? My ballot was a punchcard with perforated holes, so any sharp instrument would work. Just rest the pen tip on a chad, and lift the rest of the ballot. Or, the polls have "voting machine" punches that work on any ballot. The ballot has the same format for each party in my county.

Don't take codebreaker too seriously. He seems to be getting exit poll results for the CA governor race that no one in CA seems to be able to get even though he is listed in the directory as being from TX. I think he's just having his little bit of fun today.

There are different machines in California for dems and Repubs? The "machines" are the same, but as a republican you may not vote for demos in the primary(and vice-versa.Actually,you may choose either ballot, but not both). So,while the candidates for governor ran about 1-3 on the Republican ballot, the demos were probably #4(as Davis is unopposed),and on the machines designated Republican, you do not have access to choice #4(It is covered.Similarly, the demos don't have access to 1-3.).They have little booklets that give the candidates names, and the choices for the demo ballot are covered over.I turned many pages that simply said :Go To Next Page, and I assumed that these pages were democratic nominees,i.e.,on the democratic machines they were accessible. So while the "machines" are the same, the choices you are given are dependant on your affiliation, and you are directed to the appropriate machine.

Gary did NOT look like a happy camper as he voted himself today Of course. These swine, after living off the taxpayer for years, now see no known source of income for the first time in their lives. They know no life other than they and their families living off of gov't. Now he'll have to go out and work for a living. And no hot-and-cold running babes his daughter's age to molest either.
Sounds like yer typical Democrat.

After Florida being called for Gore, I would have thought everyone knows to ignore exit polls.

Maybe he has an inside source. I doubt it...but who knows. Even if he doesn't, at least he is trying to get folks to the polls somehow....that is a good thing.

In my area we had the old lever machinesNever used one of them.Had to check to make sure all my chads were OK .Don't want those puppies getting pregnant!

Always a good thing. Never say its over til its over. 2 hours more of voting left here in CA.

My estimate is there are less registered Republicans than Democrats so they have skewed the voting machines so that the GOP has to wait 15 minutes. I don't know about other precincts, but in mine, we use punch cards and the machines are available to everyone on a first-come first-served basis. There are no Republican and Democrat machines.

I wasn't too worried about Bush carrying the state, but Cuyahoga County sure did their best for Algore.

Bush was up 2 in Michigan(internal polls), but a high Detroit turnout happened(As well as cigs for votes). He lost by 5.Do the inner cities wait until all suburban votes are in and then decide how many of the dead still need to vote? It might be tougher without the punch card ballots to drive a rod through. Attention red zones: do not submit your vote counts until all blue zones have submitted theirs. Forget being proud of your efficiency. They just take us for suckers.

Just reporting as it comes in from ABC- god bless 'em...after the last fiasco the networks are even releasing Voter News Service projections
To: Bob
There was a GOP memo about the waiting posted earlier today on FR.

A bit off-topic,maybe,but I was asked to show ID.I didn't have the presence of mind to ask whether it was neccessary in order to vote,I just whipped it out.I also didn't think to see whether they asked all voters to show ID.I vote in Oakland,Alameda county, very liberal, and I probably look like the enemy to the poll workers.I am 46,white male.
