The all-or-nothing philosophy won't get us anywhere when applied to drugs and alcohol. If you think that makes me a hypocrite, you're welcome to your opinion. I don't know what kind of drugs that sick woman was on, but I'm sure it was something HARD. Maybe even a prescription. And if you make the argument that hard drugs (heroin, cocaine, LSD, crystal meth, etc.) are in the same league with a couple of beers, then you allow your ideology to take precedence over your common sense.
