The driver told them she'd been drinking and using drugs when she struck the man, police said.

But, but ... using drugs doesn't infringe on other people's freedom, right? She was only hurting herself, right? Right? (/sarcasm)

I notice you conveniently left out the part about drinking from your response. Do I take that to mean that if she did this under the influence of alcohol then all is fine? A person should be responsible for their actions, regardless of what the are under the influence of.

" But, but ... using drugs doesn't infringe on other people's freedom, right? She was only hurting herself, right? Right? (/sarcasm)"

More people get killed by STUPID SOBER drivers than by alcohol or drug impaired drivers every year. Punish the person who harms another (like this idiot woman) whether sober, drunk or high.

"But, but ... using drugs doesn't infringe on other people's freedom,"

The simple act of using a drug (pot, booze, etc.) doesn't. It seems you left out the drinking part???
Whether she was doing drugs and / or drinking is irrelevant. The fact remains that she is a heartless creature that has all the makings of a perfect 'its not my fault' liberal.

"She was only hurting herself, right? Right? (/sarcasm)"

If she had stayed where she was and drugged and drank herself to death, well than that would have been her problem. She however didn't do that. Once she get into that automobile and started to cruise on down the road she became a danger to others. Responsibility is the word.
What if she were extremely tired, or had done a prescription drug, would you be calling for laws to make tiredness a crime? No of course not.
Even you must admit that personal responsibility is the key in ALL situations.

GenXFreedomFighter do you now or at any time in your life ever take a drink or get drunk? Think about this statement you made (only substitute the words drinking alcohol for using drugs) ""But, but ... using drugs doesn't infringe on other people's freedom," and ask yourself if we should go back to the prohibition days and outlaw alcohol. Which by the way was only outlawed within the corporate UNITED STATES and had nothing to do with the individual states.

The drugs didn't kill the victim, the automobile did. Well, actually, no, the driver did!

But you knew knew that already. You were just trying to make a point. sorry it didn't work out for you. Please feel free to try again.
