No, it certainly doesn't need another Luther. Luther tried to make changes by attacking those he thought guilty of abuse. He succeeded in making changes which brought about the worst disunity in Christendom ever.

What the Church could use is another St. Francis of Assisi. The Church of his time (1200's) was just as corrupt as the Church at the time of Luther. Francis' reaction was not to attack those he saw living lives of immorality and abuse, but to look at himself and to do his best to live, himself, according to the Gospel. The result was a great reform of the Church- clergy and laity, both.

There are lots of serious problems in the Church today. The solution is simple: We Catholics must live according to Christ's gospel.

Francis of Assisi is worth reading about. My favorite book is "St. Francis of Assisi" by Johannes Jorgensen. G.K. Chesterton also wrote a good biography of Francis.
