A U.S. Border Patrol officer has encountered four heavily armed Mexican army soldiers on the U.S. side of the border near San Diego.
The soldiers, armed with three submachine guns and one M-16 rifle, crossed the border near Tecate, Mexico, while on a counter-drug mission, Border Patrol spokesman James Jacques said. They were all dressed in camouflage fatigues, said officials.
A Border Patrol agent, who was not identified in the SanDeigoChannel.com report, said he was following footsteps left by the Mexican patrol. When he encountered them, one of the Mexican soldiers had his sidearm unholstered.
The agent then unholstered his sidearm and identified himself. He told superiors the Mexican troopers then realized they were inside the U.S. and cooperated with the Border Patrol agent, who took them to a nearby Border Patrol station.
Their identities were verified by the Mexican consulate and other U.S. officials before they were returned to Mexico via the San Ysidro Port of Entry. The report did not say whether their weapons were confiscated.
"This could easily have escalated into a real tragedy," Jacques told reporters. "Thankfully, cooler heads prevailed."
The Border Patrol's Washington, D.C., headquarters did not immediately return phone calls seeking comment.
The March 10 incident signals a growing trend of Mexican military forces crossing into the United States.
In March 2000, WorldNetDaily reported that a group of Mexican soldiers fired on Border Patrol officers.
On March 14, 2000, "two Mexican army Humvees carrying about 16 armed soldiers drove across the international boundary and into the United States near Santa Teresa, New Mexico," said a statement issued at the time by the National Border Patrol Council, a union representing about 8,300 "non-supervisory" Border Patrol personnel.
There the vehicles pursued a Border Patrol vehicle, which was "outfitted with decals and emergency lights (that were activated for much of the pursuit) over a mile into the United States," the union said.
The lead Mexican army vehicle, said the council, contained nine soldiers "armed with seven automatic assault rifles, one submachine gun and two .45 caliber pistols," and was eventually apprehended by other Border Patrol units.
The second Mexican army Humvee, however, "pursued a Border Patrol agent on horseback and fired a shot at him. The soldiers then disembarked their vehicle, fired upon one more Border Patrol agent and chased another agent before fleeing [back] to Mexico in their vehicle."
Then, in November, two border patrolmen who had just disembarked from a "clearly marked Border Patrol helicopter" immediately came under fire from a 10-man unit of what appeared to be soldiers with the Mexican army, according to L. Keith Weeks, vice president of the National Border Patrol Union Local 1613 in San Diego, Calif.
The second incident reportedly occurred Oct. 24 in Copper Canyon, about eight miles east of the Otay Mesa Port of Entry.
About eight shots were fired, Weeks said. "Once other Border Patrol agents neared the scene, the soldiers retreated to Mexico and drove off in a minivan," he added.
News of the incursion comes as President Bush earlier this week convinced the House leadership to attach an amnesty bill to a series of other non-controversial bills that usually don't require much debate. The measure was passed.
Critics of Bush's bill say the granting of amnesty to millions of illegals rewards illegal behavior, worsens domestic security and demoralizes the Border Patrol and other law enforcement agencies charged with enforcing immigration laws.
On Wednesday, Bush signed into law the "Family Sponsor Immigration Act of 2002," which, the White House said, "allows an alternative family member to sign the necessary affidavit of support for an alien in the event of the death of the relative who initially filed a petition for permanent resident status for the alien."
His family has a good chance of long-term enrichment via an oil deal with Mexico.
His family could also profit by investing in businesses that rely on cheap illegal labor.
Unions receive $20.00 or more per month from every member they have, regardless of how much they make an hour or how often they work. If employers can afford to have 1 1/2 to 2 times as many employees on their rosters for the same or less than they're paying in wages and benefits, now, and they all pay the same monthly union dues, the unions make out like bandits. Bush might win some union as well as big business support with this sell-out. It worked for Senator Herb Kohl from Wisconsin.
His reasons will become evident as time goes on. Of one thing you can be sure, it's always about the money.

Specific reasons why Section 245(i) is a national security risk are as follows:Allows hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens to stay permanently without going through face-to-face interviews in our embassies abroad, conducted in their native languages.

I have read several stories about the AZ ranchers. My heart goes out to them and I support any action that they may take.
I don't live on a ranch but I resent downtown Dallas being turned into downtown Mexico City.

You might find this massive invasion of our country to be mildly amusing but the majority (millions of us) do not.
If you want to see real trouble, just watch what happens if this invasion is not halted.
We are not going to sit idly by and watch this great nation destroyed by political corruption, illegal invasion and destruction of the rule of law.
Think about it. For every one of us that votes against those that voted for this amnesty, those candidates have to find one vote to neutralize our vote and one more to put them up where they would have been had we voted for them.

What also made Bob Mohan and his crew sick was the trash the illegals left strewn all over the ranches. Baby diapers, food cartons and other things I'd rather not describe. He brought back pictures to prove it and our local TV news had footage, too.
That was about the time when scumbag klinton came down here nosing around fawning all over the "hispanic business" community (for votes and to give away mucho $$$$$).

Our country was built on immigrants. That is not the problem. The problem is allowing people who come here ILLEGALLY to stay here and REWARD their criminal behavior. That is not smearing and being paranoid. Our country has borders and laws. They are being broken and Congress just said they'll reward lawbreakers.
And those candidates had better not take for granted or rely on the Hispanic vote that they are pandering to. I think most of those votes will go democrat.
As it stands right now, I see Bush and the pubbies going down the tube in 2004.

Wow their reward in the vast majority of cases is busting their ass trying to make a better life. Look this isn't an amnesty, this is for people who are good hard working people.
Good hard working people, breaking the law by coming here, sending money out of the country, using hospitals and public schools for which they don't pay.....taxpayers do. Let them FOLLOW THE LAW and come here LEGALLY, pay taxes, help support the schools and services they USE......our country has BORDERS AND LAWS, they are breaking both.

New immigrants can't legally work without green cards. But they CAN work ILLEGALLY, while receiving Welfare, which most of them do.
None of this is new. Reform the Welfare system. Deny Welfare to illegals. Reform the INS...better yet, get rid of it, and replace it with a special division of the National Guard. I'm going to suggest an idea that nearly got the great man himself, Ronald Reagan, into serious trouble: COMBINE. Not the military, but the paramilitary, which, IMO, the INS should be a part of, because immigration IS a big part of national security.
We can't go around summarily blaming all potential immigrants to this country for the shortcomings of the INS. The amnesty thing is an imperfect first step to "reforming" the INS. It won't work. I never thought it would. The problem with the INS is that the no one WITHIN the INS knows what anyone else is doing.
The fact that amnesty won't work, however, is not proof that President Bush is a traitor who has sold "us" down the river. THAT assumption is a little over the top at this point. As is the assumption that a president with GW's approval ratings, who was only sworn in a little over a year ago, is trying to "buy votes".
I have seen the pictures. That is what our neighborhood was beginning to look like until we took it back. We had to (and are still continuing to) rebuild a large segment of the old East Dallas Historical district.
All of this was done with private money. But, the neighborhood is beginning to look clean and bright again. It was worth it.
Absolutely true. They sneak across the border, put a pregnant woman into an American hospital, and there is suddenly an American citizen in the family. If the baby is born in the US, it is a citizen. And welfare? Why should American citizens pay welfare for these people? Shouldn't immigrants be self-supporting, at least? I work damn hard for my money, and I pay enough in taxes as is. And much of those tax dollars goes to support these programs.
