Musharraf will be using the money we just promised him against us if we don't look out.

Closing a border looks easy on a 3 foot wide map. Snap your fingers, give some orders.....
It's quite a different reality on the ground.

I have been posting this theory ever since 9/11. It's nice to see someone else jump on the bandwagon for a change!

"We know that Pakistan is helping the Taliban. That is why we need to protect our borders to stop their interference," he said. Idiot. They don't need your pathetic country anymore. Since Pakistan is now their friendly host, they have their new base from which to launch new attacks on America, with the Bushies still astoundingly appeasing Musharraf at every turn, from their obvious Al Queda apathy to shielding Daniel Pearl's killers from Ashcroft.
As I have said many times, our leaders still don't get it. And sadly, thousands more may have to die until we act unilaterally with massive force to crush the new enemy of Islam.

If Musharriff is legit, he needs to do some heavy duty house cleaning!

I'm sure India wouldn't mind helping to disinfect Pakistan.

Our "allies" at work again.

Everybody is lying to us, America. Wake up! I could not have said it better.
They are either with us, or against us; very few are truly with us.

Pakistan is no friend of ours. They're slighty scared of us right now, but only slightly.
I think Islamist groups (covertly or tacitly supported by the Paki government) will continue to do things like the Pearl kidnapping and Sunday's church bombing within Pakistan. They won't do things that they think will cause us to retaliate massively, but will just keep up a steady stream of killings in Pakistan. Meanwhile, of course, they'll be harboring and sheltering their al Qaida (and al Fuqra-Sheik Gilani) buddies while they lay the groundwork for a major attack here in the US.
Forget Iraq. I think Pakistan should go first.

I agree that Pakistan is no friend. However, historically, we have backed them against India, and they are afraid of our withdrawal of this support, so we do have that leverage. India is really tired of Muslims at this point, and there's no telling what might happen if we weren't there telling India to back off.
The one encouraging thing I have heard about Musharef is that he has a portrait Kemal Ataturk on his office wall. Has anyone else heard this?

There's always Doug MacArthur's 1950 plan to sew a 10 mile wide belt of radioactive (and highly toxic) cobalt along the border (in Dougout Doug's case between North Korea and China; here between Afghanistan and Pakistan - heck, along the Kashmir line of control as well!)

To: Cinnamon Girl
There is a BIG difference between Pakistani government support for these terrorists and support from Pakistani clerics and tribesmen in parts of Pakistan that aren't effectively under government control.
The focus should be on helping the Pakistanis get control of those areas and cleaning house.
Instead, we see the usual responses here that we ought to attack Pakistan. It demonstrates a complete lack of understanding of the subtleties of geopolitics and an unwillingness to think things through.
The ONLY way to rid Pakistan of terrorists is by the efforts of the Pakistanis themselves. American bombs can't do it.
