LANCASTER - Charges were dropped yesterday against an Egyptian who allegedly showed a false ID and was carrying instructions on how to behave if quesioned by authorities.
Instead of facing the criminal charges, Ah-med Ebrahim Moussa, 25, was turned over to the Immigration and Naturalization Service in Philadelphia because his temporary visa expired in January.
Moussa has been in custody since March 7, when a nightclub bouncer questioned whether his identification card was real. Police said they later found him holding documents "known to be affiliated with terrorism networks."
Public defender Samuel Encarna said, Moussa has no terrorism connections and carried the instructions on what to do if he was picked up because he didn't speak English - and worried that police might consider him suspicious. (AP)

Technically, he can only be charged with having a fake ID. However, I bet this guy doesn't make a move without being taped, recorded and logged.

Next week he'll be flying planes into a building.

After the CIA brainwashes him and sends him back to Egypt? ;-)

America is a country that is ASLEEP. Then it is SHOCKED. It AWAKES. It goes back to SLEEP. Then it is SHOCKED again. It AWAKES. Then it goes back to SLEEP. Then it is SHOCKED again. It AWAKES. Then it goes back to SLEEP.
This is, fellow Freepers, Our National Characteristic. One big vicious circle of lack of wisdom.
Pearl Harbor and 9-11 taught us NOTHING as a nation. (Except that we will always be this way).
Give it a couple of more months with the US falling asleep again and complacency and naivety setting in, and another tower will be hit somewhere or a suitcase nuke may go off.
It's a shame. Our leaders and police and courts should know better by now.
This to me is not a hallmark sign of a Wise People and Nation.

Lance Romance sid: "Technically, he can only be charged with having a fake ID."
Actually, the article states: 'Moussa has been in custody since March 7, when a nightclub bouncer questioned whether his identification card was real. "
Since the article fails to state that the ID was fake, perhaps it was legitimate. The man was held because his visa had expired.

I've yet to meet anyone who can't be described as a "potential terrorist." Should you and I also get a month in jail?

From CNN:
LANCASTER, Pennsylvania (AP) -- An Egyptian national arrested for allegedly showing a suspicious ID card at a nightclub was held without bail after he was found carrying instructions on how to deal with authorities if stopped for questioning, police said.
In court papers, authorities said Ahmed Ebrahim Moussa had documents "known to be affiliated with active terrorism networks."
Public defender Samuel Encarnacion said Moussa had no connections to terrorism and was carrying the instructions only because he didn't speak English well and was worried police might find him suspicious.
Stefan Presser, legal director for the American Civil Liberties Union of Pennsylvania, said it was "outrageous" for prosecutors to assume that those types of papers were a link to terrorism.
Moussa, 25, was detained shortly after midnight on March 7 at The Village nightclub. After his arrest, he acknowledged that the card, which had his real name and date of birth, but the wrong Social Security number, had been made at a shop in New York City, police and his lawyer said.
Prosecutors said that, based on information from federal authorities, they believed Moussa "is a flight risk, is dangerous and will fail to appear (in court) as required." They declined Wednesday to say what that information was.
Police Capt. John Flemming said law enforcement agencies had been warned by the FBI to be on the lookout for foreigners carrying instructions on how to deal with police.

The original article made no mention of a fake ID. The sad fact is that in most the despotic Arab countries, it's "faith based" groups that run many social instituions such as orphanages and the like, with decency and efficiency. The same Islamic groups also approve of, or further, the use of violence for political ends, aka terrorism. Because of this, many devout Muslims have at least some dealings with groups that are terrorist. The answer, in my opinion, is to bring democracy to those benighted countries. Citizens who can vote rarely if ever use violence to change their regime.
