Emergency calls failed to bring Monaco police.
Ted put a Laura Slatkin scented candle (always burning to mask Safra's diarrhea; Slatkin is the Safra friend who recommended Ted) in a waste basket to concentrate its smoke, and held it up to a smoke detector to summon help.
The first alarm was received at 4:54 a.m. per the official fire report.
Within minutes Ted had staggered down to the Concierge and was rushed to Princess Grace Hospital.
There, Ted received approximately one hundred staples and numerous transfusions--not the "superficial self-inflicted wounds" Serdet said at all.
The hospital tested Ted for drugs and alcohol and its results were "negatif. . .negatif. . .negatif".
This was shown on NBC Dateline November 21, 2000, "Who Killed the Billionaire?"
This alone refutes the preposterous and slanderous lie of Monaco prosecutor Daniel Serdet.
Serdet poisoned the world press with his mammoth fraud lapped up eagerly by Time's Thomas Sancton.
Monaco put Ted in four-point restraint, catheterized, sleep-deprived, interrogating and threatening him for three days.
Monaco concurrently kidnapped Ted's wife Heidi and her brother Todd and stole their U.S. Passports, using hers to threaten Ted.
Monaco told Ted that they were strip-searching and torturing his wife, and that they would detain her indefinitely unless he signed their prepared false confession in French which Ted does not read, write or speak.
To further threaten Ted and Heidi, Monaco showed photos of the couple's three children--at home in New York. And played tapes of the children's voices.
Having thus been FORCED TO SIGN A FALSE CONFESSION (which fact Dominick Dunne repeatedly writes in Vanity Fair and tells to Larry King and his audience), Ted was not permitted to correct this slanderous fraud by his Monaco-appointed "defense" attorneys.
Ted's mail, visits, phone calls for 976 days have been blocked, choked to a trickle: a single call a week, and most of his mail never gets in or out.
Thus wrongly imprisoned, framed, muzzled and betrayed, Ted is now ignored by his representative, Senators, State Department.
Perhaps these are more concerned with staying in the good graces of the Prince, the wealthy widow, the voters ignorant of Ted's plight.
Perhaps they've found the coverup simplest, the conspiracy too complicated, and the path of least resistance to be inertia.
Is it too much to ask that this government actually BE "for the people"?
No, the government of, by and for the people should be outraged by the multiple crimes committed against an innocent and honorable citizen, and should work tirelessly to attain his release.
Washington, it is just this simple:
