Today is Ithaca Police Chief Rick Basile's last day on the job. In his five years as the city's top cop, Basile helped make Ithaca a better, safer place, be it pushing for departmental diversity or creating some order out of Senior Week chaos.

In other words, in Ithaca, a police chief's role in fighting crime and/or advancing public safety are less important than his role in advancing a liberal agenda of "diversity," "hiring protected classes" and engaging in "inclusive" processes.

Ithaca is the City of Evil.

stakeholders?

Yes, those are the liberal minions who hold stakes to the hearts of Conservatives so that other liberals can try to pound them in.

Fortunately, most Conservatives have hearts that can't be punctured.

Chief Basile (March 2000)

Chief Richard P. Basile

My name is Richard P. Basile and I was sworn in as your Chief on July 21, 1997. I started my police career in the Albany, New York Police Department. I served on the Albany Police Department for eighteen years; while there, I served in the Arbor Hill Neighborhood Police Unit, a storefront unit in a culturally diverse area of the City. I also served as Commanding Officer of the Administrative Services Unit and as the "A" tour Lieutenant.

Following my employment with the Albany Police Department, I served as Director of Training for the New York State Division of Criminal Justices Services. Most recently, I served as Police Chief in Ellenville, New York. While there, I expanded the DARE program, started an Explorer Post, a Youth Court and a Police Athletic League.

I received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social Science from the College of St. Rose located in Albany, New York. Following that, I achieved a Master of Science Degree in Public Administration from Russell Sage College in Troy, New York.

Well, I for one never thought he was worth a tinkers damn. Feel good politics, hand picked by a few very liberal members of the Common Council. However, the way things are here in the "City of Evil," I guess he is about as good as one could have gotten. So-long Chief, don't let the door hit you on the way out. "City of Evil" bump

A term in Ithaca given to its citizens. Must be more politically correct for some reason.

Yeah, you're right, but it doesn't apply to ALL citizens, only those who have a stake in the success of the leftist agenda. Hence "stakeholdeer".

Actually "stakeholder" is a fairly common term in the business world where all parties with a "stake" in a certain outcome hopefully can be marshalled to work together. In the Ithaca usage, I think the desired outcome involves a whole lot more than safe streets!

This pathetic troll is at the opposite end of the spectrum from Lee Brown.

OutOfTownBrown was the Dink's police commissioner, presiding over the greatest volume of crime ever committed in the history of an American city, culminating in the only pogrom ever staged on US soil.

Brown, a CoreDemocrat(tm), is now mayor of Houston, thanks, in part, to his good friends at Enron.

While Brown is the visible poster child for quota-hiring crime fighters, scores if not hundreds of little worms like this have infiltrated the criminal justice system.

Apparently, the City has named a female officer with only three years experience with the Department to the post of interim chief, choosing her over a Deputy Chief with 27 years of experience.

The Ithaca Journal applauds this, of course, calling it "good business."
