Fox Guy Disses Zahn And CNN Is Not Amused
ny daily news ^ | march 21, 2002

he latest battle between CNN and the Fox News Channel isn't over ratings, but rather words.

CNN officials were upset over a bit by Chicago radio shock jock Mancow Muller during yesterday's edition of "Fox & Friends," in which the motor-mouth punched a male sidekick who he said was a stand-in for Paula Zahn.

"I'll kill you, Paula! I'll kill you, Paula!" Muller shouted while hitting his cohort.

A CNN spokeswoman, who brought the incident to the attention of The News, said it "clearly crosses the line of what's appropriate."

No viewers called Fox about the bit, which was part of the freewheeling morning show, nor do execs there have a problem with Muller's routine, according to a spokesman.

"Mancow does a five-minute segment to give his viewpoint; it's not the viewpoint of Fox News," he said. "The issues of [yesterday] happened to be a story about 'Fox & Friends' Kicking Zahn's a--."

"I find it hard to justify violence on the air," responded CNN's spokeswoman.

"It's like the Three Stooges," snapped back the Fox spokesman. "Did the Three Stooges advocate violence?"

Yield Okay for 'Shield'

FX's gritty new drama "The Shield" appears to be doing fairly well.

The show's second episode averaged 4.05 million viewers Tuesday, down from 4.8 million the first week, a dip of 16%.

Typically, shows lose between 10% and 15% from the first episode to the second — although expectations tend to be lower on cable.

"This is beyond our wildest dreams," said an FX spokesman.

"The Shield" stars Michael Chiklis as a Los Angeles cop.

My sweet E.D. would never do such a thing...

never never never

Besides, I was at work (ssshhhhh) when I posted that last one, and where I secretly have a cache of Fox Babe pix. Alas, I am home now, Foxless for the weekend.

I mean, I like Juliet, but she's no E.D.

No correction was needed. Mancow is the best shock jock on the air today, and he is politically conservative.

YOu haven't seen his ratings lately have you .... LOL!! He isn't even in the top 5 in Chicago radio anymore, and that's his "hometown!"

I had it exactly right. And he's "conservative?" He's a poor representative for the conservative cause, that's for sure.... shock jocks who have lezbo's and porn stars on their shows don't speak well for Conservative issues.

We have Dish satellite and so don't get the networks. We could, but couldn't get our locals, so there's not much point. I like CNN and C-span, and Fox News is pretty good most of the time. I can't stand "Bulls and Bears" though. It's another one where everyone talks at once and you don't learn anything.

The Shield is COLD man.

I watched an episode last week; I see Reed Diamond (from Homicide), and I'm thinking, cool, I like that guy.

Then the 'hero' goes and pops him at the end of the episode.

Yowch!

Shield is way too cool to actually be on free tv (feels like an HBO thing). I hope they can keep up the intensity. When Mackey off and popped that newboy at the end of the first episode, I knew it was the best TV drama I've seen in years.

I agree. E.D. is very quick witted and she doesn't censor her thoughts. Very refreshing! I think Fox and Friends is the best show on T.V.

Yeah, but I like Reed Diamond. I was hoping he'd be around just a little longer, y'know?

well, at least the Fox spokesman got it right, their network is at about the same intellectual level as the 3 stooges

Wow. You're so erudite.

More pix of all the Fox Babes! Yes! They're the best! (ok, we're prejudiced, I know! But pretty is as pretty does, at least to a great extent, and these gals don't come across as bleeding heart, knee-jerk, aids-ribbon-wearing, airhead lefties like every rubber-stamped, manufactured, talking-head, die-cast chick on the other networks.)

Who is the gal who fills in for E.D. on the weekend Fox and Friends? A blonde (with a very trendy and stylish, I'm sure, but unflattering 'do) who is real good (obligatory reference to talent) and an incredible figure belonging on MTV Spring Break or Wild On Beaches Of The World.

We also love demure Patti Anderson. Petite and terminally cute Brenda Buttner. Classy and sultry Judith Regan (as we have for years.) Lucious-Lips Laurie Dhue.

No one on the other networks (of course, I haven't watched the other networks in a very long time) inspires credibility or wears a business suit like Rita Cosby.

But, yo, Roger Ailes. Greta? LOSE HER!!!

The gal who fills in for E.D. on the weekends (and is having a terrible time doing the weather) is Juliet Huddy.

She's no E.D. (who is?), but she's fun, too.

And the adorable Lauren Green...mmmmmm

I was happy Rita Cosby got her own show. She'd done a heck of a job the past year, basically being on top of just about every breaking story. And then she goes and has Tonya Harding, Don King and Paula Jones on her show last week.

Why, Rita, Why?!

See? Something for everyone.

My wife thinks Brit and Tony are Da Bomb, so I can get away with mooning over Lauren and E.D.

When I got DirecTV I got the network feeds. We have an east coast and a west coast for Fox, NBC, CBS, ABC and PBS. I live in Cal. WE can watch the 10pm shows at 7pm on the east coast feeds or at 10 on the west coast. I like the options.

Fox and Friends is annoying to me, too. I can't put my finger on exactly why.

Somedays I like it, somedays, I don't but I ONLY have Fox & Friends turned on in the morning and will continue to do so for principle. I will not lower myself to watch Katiethecommiecouric. Some principles cannot be broken.

I know it isn't popular FreeRepublic fare, but I enjoy NBC's Today show. Like it or not, they get interviews with the people in the news.

Because they softball questions to them and ONLY show the leftist, anti-American viewpoint. If you want to be fed nothing but a steady diet of socialist poo on a dirty dish, you're getting the most from your meal with Katiethecommiecouric. Other than that, you get nothing from the show.

This morning, they had on the guy with a baseball bat who chased down a truck-theif after the stolen dump truck crashed. I was glad to hear the interview.

The "Batman", while not a policeman himself, comes from a family of police officers, and is into martial arts. It was really cool how he cornered the truck theif. I don't know if they pay for interviews or what, but Today does get the right people on.

If you consider that to be indepth news reporting then you probably are watching the correct show for you.

When did you see E. D.'s (legs). She was in Pittsburgh for three years back in the earlier decades, and Zahn still is # 1!!!!!! E.D.is still the only conservative in the crowd, and the wisest one. She often says, "go G.W."

When did I see E.D.'s legs? Why, she usually shows up at S&S in a short skirt; it's hard to miss 'em.
