Sarah Brady, Gun Criminal?

Move over, Rosie O'Donnell: The newest "celebrity" anti-gun hypocrite is Sarah Brady.

Mrs. Brady "bought her son a powerful rifle for Christmas in 2000 - and may have skirted Delaware state background-check requirements," the New York Daily News reported Thursday.

Some people will do anything to tell a book. No doubt to increase interest in what otherwise would be a boring memoir, the gun rights opponent writes that she bought James Brady Jr. a Remington .30-06, "complete with scope and safety lock," at a gun shop in Lewes, Del.

"I can't describe how I felt when I picked up that rifle, loaded it into my little car and drove home," she writes. "It seemed so incredibly strange: Sarah Brady, of all people, packing heat."

According to her book, the store ran federal Brady Law and state background checks with much ado. But the book suggests she did not have her son checked, as required by Delaware law.

Delaware Justice Department spokeswoman Lori Sitler said the purchase could be illegal if Mrs. Brady did not say who she was buying the gun for and submit his "name, rank and serial number" for an inquiry.

"You can't purchase a gun for someone else," Sitler told the Daily News. "That would be a 'straw purchase.' You've got a problem right there."

Gun rights advocates were surprised to hear of Mrs. Brady's antics.

"We hope that it's innocuous and there's been no laws violated," said James Jay Baker, chief lobbyist for National Rifle Association. "It's obviously interesting that Sarah would be purchasing firearms of any kind for anybody, given her championing of restrictive guns laws for everyone."

Seniors United Supporting the Second Amendment told NewsMax.com it was asking Delaware and the U.S. Department of Justice to investigate "what appears to be a criminal act" by Mrs. Brady.

"Sarah Brady is infamous for her radical anti-Second Amendment positions and her work to strip the citizens if the United States of their civil rights. She is the head of an extremist group that is working to gut the Bill of Rights," the group said in a statement.

"Sarah Brady is typical of the anti-civil rights radicals," noted John Bender, executive director of SUSSA. "She wants to ban private transfers of guns for everyone but her and her elitist friends. If a black mother in a Delaware public housing apartment did this she would already be charged with a crime. I’m wondering if Delaware has different enforcement standards for rich white women.”

The group concluded: "Sarah Brady is one of the leaders in the anti-civil rights movement’s attempt to make all private transfers of firearms illegal. Along with other extremists she pushed Congress to make this type of straw purchase illegal. Law enforcement should show her what her work has accomplished."

Mrs. Brady became a media-adored opponent of the Second Amendment after her husband, James, White House press secretary to President Ronald Reagan, was shot in a 1981 assassination attempt on Reagan.

Ah, another person that would like to tell other people how to live. You know, when you do that, it goes both ways. The people whose habits you are trying to control resent it, and will try to control your habits as well.

Maybe your cat was after some neighbor's chickens or some other property of theirs. Maybe your cat was trespassing on another person's property when it was shot at. Sounds like someone had a childhood trauma that they never grew out of.

Deer must be hunted...or we can reintroduce large numbers of mountain lions into the suburbs.

Thanks for both pings.

Sarah Brady has her opinion on gun control and I have mine. In the end it is my opinion that matters, not hers.

What is so sporting about killing innocent animals?? TO me it's just a bunch of macho men picking on a defenseless animal. Some sport. I wish the deer came equiped with their own shotguns.

Because they taste good.

Don't forget us macho women.

What is so sporting about killing innocent animals??

If you drive a car and kill millions of bugs each day, what's the difference?

Some people do need animal protein to be healthy. Don't give me the "you can take supplements" argument because supplements are unnatural and that can only have proceeded from affluence and scientific research (based on "exploiting" animals - which aren't any more innocent than you and me because they kill each other all the time and think nothing of it. I wonder, have you seen the footage of the buck that killed a crippled doe because she couldn't stand for breeding? Hunters shot one buck that was harassing the poor thing, and while they were tagging that one, another one took up the chase. Finally the buck chased her down by a shallow pond, and the hunters felt so bad that they tried to run the buck off. But they were too late, he had already pushed her into the water and she couldn't get up with his insistent pawing, and drowned. Such loving innocent animals.

So typical just like "republicans are in favor of starving children and robbing old people of their medicines..." is typical of republicans. It's the stories you hear because that's what the media wants you to think. You've been bought.

Here's my hunting pix for your enjoyjment:

HUNTPIX

I'll have you know that fresh venison backstraps (tenderloins) can't be beat. Low in fat, high in protein and no synthetic hormones. What a health trip.

I need MEAT. I couldn't nurse my babies without it every day. Without it I get depressed and unhealthy. I think our urge to hunt is part of being in a fallen world, and I'm not one of those people that think we will have hunting in heaven. And I don't think we'll care if we don't.

ALL:

I worked and lived by hunters all my life. I heard all kinds of stories....even had my cat come home with a bullet through her...to die.

I know what typical hunters do out in the woods drinking and shooting whatever they see. I have heard TONS of stories from just plain people in Western New york...when it was deer..pheasant season....I LIVED IT FOR MANY YEARS. DOn't tell me I don't know. I know.

Hunters shooting other animals is very standard practice.... I'd like ONE hunter in here tell me he never shot a crow....an extra pheasant...a racoon....a rabbit....just for the FUN of it. If you do...you are a liar. Giving Kids this idea that killing animals is a legal "SPORT" is SICK and DANGEROUS.....It should be stopped. COMMON SENSE TO ME!

Kids should be brought up to RESPECT animals....not that it's "legal" or that it is a "SPORT" to KILL them.

Unfrigginbelievable.

I actually tried to explain to you what a hunter is after reading your article you posted. Then I read this bullsh#t. You're "unfrigganbelievable" - are you that retard that strips and puts herself in a cage to protest? I think you've gotten too many UV's.

Stop getting your "facts" from a PETA email, get your head out of their asses and wake up.

The actions you describe are not "typical" and do not represent the hunting community.

BTW - children should be taught at an early age to respect wildlife and to hunt wildlife. Only by embracing our predator nature can we understand where we fit into the circle of life.

You're the one in the shell...if you wonder why some animals are dying out it's because of the hunters. Ohterwise if they hunters left them alone, nature would work itself out.

They tried to eradicate the cyotes and wolves....therefore the deer population grew. Now they are trying to repopulate the wolves and admitting their mistake of getting rid of them in the first place...but it may be too late. Open your eyes.

Yeah...those evil deer are threatening....especially in the acres and acres of wood areas.

She's going to say you're an exception. Don't you know all hunters run around blasting at everything that moves like they did in Bambi? (which is where most ppl get their education about hunting!) Hey... I cried at Bambi too... when I was a kid!

For YOUR information, I have NEVER shot an animal "for fun". I do not know any hunters who have thrill killed any game. Perhaps you hang with the wrong crowd. IF, IF you personally know of a so-called "hunter" who has done such-violated state and Federal game laws- I do hope you have turned them in and have the documentation to prove it. How dare you call responsible and ethical hunters "liars". As for your cat, that is unfortunate. However, the irresposible party here is you. No cat should be allowed to run free. If you want to discuss thrill killing, then lock up your cat. Free roaming cats kill millions of birds, small wildlife and other "prey" every year. As for your second-hand stories, I submit that the liars are those who spread such garbage.

Get an education about hunters before you spew this vomit and taint the millions of ethical and conservation minded hunters throughout the US.
