The Dutch crafted their Declaration of Independence in 1581. That was 195 years before ours of 1776. We are now 226 years since our own. But that Dutch Declaration of Independence is like to the point of this post -- it defines what tyranny is. Here is the apt part of it:
As it is apparent to all that a prince is constituted by God to be ruler of a people, to defend them from oppression and violence as the shepherd his sheep; and

whereas God did not create the people slaves to their prince, to obey his commands, whether right or wrong, but rather the prince for the sake of the subjects (without which he could be no prince), to govern them according to equity, to love and support them as a father his children or a shepherd his flock, and even at the hazard of life to defend and preserve them. And

when he does not behave thus, but, on the contrary, oppresses them, seeking opportunities to infringe their ancient customs and privileges, exacting from them slavish compliance, then he is no longer a prince, but a tyrant, and the subjects are to consider him in no other view. And

particularly when this is done deliberately, unauthorized by the states, they may not only disallow his authority, but legally proceed to the choice of another prince for their defense. This is the only method left for subjects whose humble petitions and remonstrances could never soften their prince or dissuade him from his tyrannical proceedings; and this is what the law of nature dictates for the defense of liberty, which we ought to transmit to posterity, even at the hazard of our lives. And

this we have seen done frequently in several countries upon the like occasion, whereof there are notorious instances, and more justifiable in our land, which has been always governed according to their ancient privileges, which are expressed in the oath taken by the prince at his admission to the government; for most of the Provinces receive their prince upon certain conditions, which he swears to maintain, which, if the prince violates, he is no longer sovereign.

We have not a Prince, but a whole pack of them -- the Senate, and lesser Jacks in the House, and spread throughout head offices under Mr. Bush.

Where the Dutch said:
This is the only method left for subjects whose humble petitions and remonstrances could never soften their prince or dissuade him from his tyrannical proceedings; and this is what the law of nature dictates for the defense of liberty, which we ought to transmit to posterity, even at the hazard of our lives.
That was in their situation. Our recourse is different -- we have no recourse to "other" princes. We have ourselves and our kinders to chew up this behemoth, remembering the wisdom of 1581, "what the law of nature dictates for the defense of liberty, which we ought to transmit to posterity, even at the hazard of our lives."

For Pete's sake, turn off the computer and go outside!
The biggest threat to you is coming from within.

BUMP .... thanks for finding an article that puts my thoughts and feelings so eloquently.

People don't want to believe it but we are headed for a collision here in the not too distant future.

This entire article represents a very interesting situation.

We the People are getting pissed off with our lousy, two bit, make believe government that has two standards-one for you and I and one for all who work in government.

As lawlessness prevails in government, We the People lose faith. We begin to become disgusted with the phoney politician's smile, and that firm handshake.

We accept the typical politician when things are going well, and when governmental corruption is hardly noticed, but times have changed.

Governments become afraid when We the People see thru their lies. They fear we might become organized,..something we will never be allowed to do. They fear we might stop paying taxes as a group. The media is well under the control of our leaders, now. The government/media complex is working very well indeed. Citizens will never be allowed to become organized in their anger against repugnant government, even if only to voice their feelings of distrust.

This article is a symbol of a crack in the side of a giant ship. That ship is named Big Government. We the People are being held in the belly of that ship. We are not floating off to some distant paradise in the sun, but our elected leaders are.

We are the engines that keep government afloat and propelled forward as we grind away day after day paying almost 50% of our incomes to Big Government -because it says we must.

The crack in the side of this giant ship is allowing light in from outside. Some can see sunlight shinning through the hull of the ship, while others smell something fishy is going on.

All along, we were being told that we controlled the destiny of this ship, and that the best life we can have is here its belly listening to our government task masters as they crack whips and smile. Back to work!, the proclaim. And, in the next election, vote for me! I won't burden you as much as that man over there!

Americans are going about their daily lives doing the best they can to have a good life,- to keep some of their hard earned money so they can have a few hours off each year to have fun with their families. If only they knew that the very leaders they voted for are on the deck of the giant ship throwing parties in the Sun. Splashing in the huge, beautiful pools, and eating the finest foods on earth. They are enjoying the best life has to offer while in the belly of the giant ship, Americans slave away-keeping the ship moving towards many tropical destinations.

The politicians will go ashore to spend days on the beach and nights in the finest hotels....while American families place incredible trust in their task masters and continue to toil away, never knowing that the politicians they voted into office have turned them into paid slaves.

"America is at that awkward stage.
It's too late to work within the system,
but too early to shoot the bastards."

Tovarich: The 'awkward stage' is ending quickly! Report to the nearest marginalized Libertarian-Maoist Freemen Militia people's compound for further instructions. (sheesh)

The Constitution is the device that limits the power of government by defining it.

Our founders were very afraid of government power, and so they wanted clear limits on placed on what it was allowed to do with the provision that future Americans could change the roll of government through by amending the constitution.

BUT, we are way beyond that now. When we forced government to adhere to the limitations placed on it by the Constitution, some would proclaim it a living document with broad meaning, and the process of overstepping its limitations began.

Today, no one except the man on the street talks about constitutional restraints on the power of government. No-Government is now god almighty! It is clearly out of the consitutional box and growing in power daily.

Look at how easily our president gives the finger to the limitations of our Constitution. "Free Speech? Screw it! I want to do what I want to do and no one is going to stop me!"

Count me out of that game. Im for protests, but the nonviolent kind.

Like Walter E. Williams says....We have all the power in the world....Americans need only stay home for one week, but all at the same time. Government would surrender to the will of the people just as our founders meant for it to do.

Communism is not the answer. Limited government that is responsive to and accountable to We the People is what our founding fathers established. We have allowed that system to falter. Lets not let is dissappear.
