There are several important UI principles violated with the latest round of changes, making FR slightly harder to use. The invested experience of the people who use FR has been discounted, which is disconcerting to many. I don't think FR mgt really appreciates this. Telling your users to "suck up and bear with it" is offensive to the relationship.
When I see purportedly "experienced" people do this sort of manuever "In Real Life" I give them a big downcheck, no matter what goes right. It's noxious.
Let me lay this out simple and clear. Every one of you whining a-holes better have thrown a few bucks into the kitty during the last fund raiser. One of the reasons why Jim and John have to work their software interface magic is because there are MANY MANY freeloaders here who suck up resources and don't give back a thing. The demand grows, the network resources are stretched, the costs rise and the equipment investments are evaluated ...Who died and left YOU the God of Free Republic, to banish those who disagree with you? With an attitude like that, just maybe I'll log off and take my money with me. In the last fund raiser I gave a dam* and contributed a large percentage of my state's contribution (somewhere around 25 %, as I recall, due to a lack of other contributers). The only thing I'm asking that it buy is an efficient and fast Conservative FreeRepublic web site on a slow-dial up-modem, which it did. This new FR design is not that, and I have no problem in telling John and Jim what my opinion is.
