Two Versions Of History
April 6, 2002 | kiryandil

At any given time, there are several versions of history extant in the world. Commonly, these versions of history parallel each other closely, but are not exact duplicates. We may ascribe this dissimilarity to different human viewpoints. For example:

Green Viewpoint

Conventional Viewpoint

Occurrence:
Occurrence:
Iceberg falls into ocean Iceberg falls into ocean
Global warming caused iceberg to fall into ocean Iceberg fell into ocean
Man is bad and should live in unheated huts in tightly packed urban areas Stuff happens

As we can see, these are two different viewpoints on the same event. Most of the time, groups of people with different viewpoints of a specific event agree not to particularly care what other groups think about that event.

Trouble begins when a group of people begins to care that their viewpoint of an event is not accepted by other groups of people. In the above instance, people with the Green viewpoint really care that the other people are somewhat blase about their heart-felt explanation of icebergs falling into the ocean.

There are a number of ways to get other groups to adopt your viewpoint on events that happen in the world. Education, politics, and war are some of the most popular ways used by those that wish to have others agree with them. Education is one of the mildest forms of persuasion, and war is one of the most extreme forms. Politics is somewhere in the middle (sometimes called "war by other means").

Education is usually a beneficial form of "viewpoint morphing" when two culturally dissimilar groups come together (contact with human feces is bad. dig latrines for waste disposal, and wash your hands. less of you will die). In a "culturally advanced" society such as ours, most of the "life and death" viewpoint disagreements have been resolved through beneficial education. The educational method of "viewpoint morphing" is now commonly abused by those wishing to have agreement from opposing groups with viewpoints they really care about.

In the instance above, the response of the Green Viewpoint to rejection by the Conventional Viewpoint was to infiltrate the schools, and "educate" the children of the Conventionals through "global warming" propaganda, whether or not "the facts" which they presented were really true. Since the Conventionals don't really care, this goal of the Green VP was easily accomplished.

The next step in the clash of Viewpoints is politics. If both groups really care about their viewpoints, strife is inevitable. Society has made rules about the "civilized" resolution of this strife, and calls it "politics". Both groups typically select representatives to press their Viewpoints upon the other dissenting group. Originally, these representatives formed "governments" and "the legal system", but in the age of mass communication have now spread to "the media", which is the propaganda arm of various group Viewpoints. Here are a couple of examples:

Liberal Viewpoint

Conservative Viewpoint

Occurrence: Bill Clinton
Occurrence: Bill Clinton
Bill Clinton is a flawed, but great president Bill Clinton is lying scum who was never fit to be president
resolution: denial and propaganda campaign resolution: impeachment and shunning
Occurrence: George W. Bush is elected president
Occurrence: George W. Bush is elected president
Dubya is an unelected, uneducated drunk who stole
the presidency with the help of a conservative Supreme Court
We're lucky that Dubya was elected instead Clinton's Pinocchio-boy
resolution: denial and propaganda campaign resolution: who is Al Gore?

At the present time, the Viewpoints in these two cases remain unresolved. Typically, political Viewpoint differences can fester for years, and can lead to overt War in the more extreme cases.

There are a number of methods used by the champions of various Viewpoints to ensure that their VP prevails. The Viewpoint can be written into law, with attendant penalties for disagreeing with the Viewpoint. This is the commonly accepted practice, which has the most legitimacy.

The final step in the clash of Viewpoints is War. The advocates of different Viewpoints attempt to impose their Viewpoints on other groups through force of arms. The losing group accepts the winning group's Viewpoint unconditionally. Typically, history is changed and facts revised to support the winning group's Viewpoint. Dissenters are typically killed or imprisoned.

There are many wonderful examples of War and its effects on group Viewpoints. One should study the roots of the American Revolution and the American Civil War for insight into the initial clash of Viewpoints. The American Indian Wars and Stalin's Russia illuminate the penalties imposed on the losing group Viewpoint.

In this country in the last few decades, small vocal groups whose heart-felt Viewpoints could not possibly gain majority acceptance began to resort to subterfuge to impose their Viewpoints on others. They knew that they could not hope to force their radical minority Viewpoints on the disagreeing majority through War, but they realized that their goals could be achieved with ease if they gained control of key small elements of the society..

These key elements are the judiciary, the media, and the education system. A handful of judges with the "correct Viewpoint" positioned in the correct place have enabled these minority Viewpoints to make tremendous headway against the tide of the majority Viewpoints. Another handful of Senators have been positioned to twist the levers of power in the nation's capitol. Similarly placed operatives in the media, the public schools and the universities have also helped in the decades-long campaign.

These advocates of extreme minority Viewpoints were within sight of their goals when the Internet suddenly arrived on the scene of the crime. The Internet has been a disaster for the stealth advocates of extreme minority Viewpoints. Overnight, the majority Viewpoints which had been marginalized and silenced with such devious care by the conniving minority Viewpointers found a hungry audience waiting.

Due to the advent of the Net, we now have the spectacle of two or more Versions Of History scrolling across the screen of current history. I myself have found this occurrence fascinating. Historically, the majority group Viewpoint would put up with such a situation for only so long, before it became necessary to kill or imprison the defiant advocates of the subordinate group Viewpoint. However, since in the current situation the minority Viewpoint gained ascendancy through deception and subterfuge, they find themselves hopelessly trapped, again due to their enemy the Internet - they can't kill or imprison the strongest majority group Viewpoint advocates without alerting the rest of the majority group.

In Stalin's Russia, a minority Viewpoint was able to gain control of and rule over a majority Viewpoint because the usurpers were able to control virtually all communication and dissemination of information. We Americans were in danger of the same fate until just recently.

The Internet has allowed the majority Viewpoint to regain its voice. We must use the Internet to smash the phony, lying Viewpoint of the liberal usurpers into the dust where it belongs. Feel no remorse in these battles, for they meant to treat us in the same fashion. Remember the fate of the Anglo-Saxons of England at the hands of the minority Normans.

"I'm doing a keyword search of my (so called) memory.....Didn't he used to be someone?"

I just did a google search and I found a few results that seem to indicate he was some guy married to a chick named, "Tipper." This, "Tipper," whoever the hell she is, must've been one heck of a story-teller, 'cause I also see a bunch of stuff about the, "She-Lie Temple."

However it's amazing how quick they start caring when properly approached with the facts and what the greenies really want, ie. control.

It's not Al Gore, it's algore. The algore is a mythical creature beloved by the minority viewpoint. The algore had mythical powers bequeathed to him by the TRIMPOTUS. This algore was a god, he could create a prosperous economy and at the same time destroy the internal combustion engine, give everyone free healthcare and save the planet. Everyone else saw a lying, false, robotic ignoramus, but a cult believed that this was the promised algore. I hope this clears up an obscure corner of American history and our fabulous fringe cults and their wacky beliefs.

Pretty good analysis, you could take it much further. I believe, for example, that Democrats and liberals are by definition liars. The reason talk radio, and the Internet are so much more "rightwing" is that lies can be immediately challenged in these media, while they can be hidden in tradional media or politics. Therefore, Phil Donohue's new show is doomed, while Hannity and O'Reilly and Rush will thrive. The only question is whether the alternatie media can grow fast enough to overcome the accelerating degeneration of society already in progress.

EXCELLENT point, and one that I've never seen made. Are we good, or what?

Republicans and Democrats both lie, as do their media supporters.

The vast majority of what they tell the people is spin, because the people aren't equipped to handle the truth.

But the system works so well precisely because it's still a contest that the more efective leader of the unwashed-masses wins.

And of course they won't admit that the people can't handle the truth because that's part of the truth that the people can't handle.

A very ingenous post!

(contact with human feces is bad. dig latrines for waste disposal, and wash your hands. less of you will die).

Humanity was slow to learn even this. If you read the Old Testament, God told the children of Israel to wash their hands in the book of Leviticas.

God Teaches Human's to Wash Their Hands to Avoid Infection

You get an A++++ for an original post.

I'm sorry to disappoint you, but Rush and other conservative talk hosts have explicitly stated that many times over the years.

one that I've never seen made

I haven't seen Rush on the radio recently - have you? :-)

Rush and his conservative talk brethren are for those who are fighting the verbal war against the Liberal Viewpoint - very successfully, I might add.

Here on the Net, we are fighting the print war. I only occasionally listen to Rush, and for VERY short periods. I'm the choir, and most probably adjunct faculty in his University.
