I do have a hunch that this prophecy will be one of the ones fulfilled a lot sooner than later. The Syrian leader has been evil, destructive, arrogant, violent for far too long against by far the WRONG people from God's perspective. Those are not exactly God's favorite traits anyway.

Actually, the current leader of Syria has only been in power since the year 2000. I believe much of what you attribute to him was more likely the work of his predecessor (and father). I certainly hope that Junior is not looking to earn lots of regional respect the quick way; that path leads only to death and destruction.
