I, for one, felt the profanity was appropriate. The writer of this piece is angry and justifiably so.

Very excellent article!

Fiery Italian journalist causes stir by condemning Arafat, European left

'She lashed out at the Vatican for fostering a pro-Palestinian bias, saying — among other things — that she found it "shameful that in the name of Jesus Christ (a Jew without whom today they would all be out of work) the priests of our parishes or social centers or whatever they are, flirt with the assassins of those in Jerusalem who can´t go out for pizza or to buy eggs without being blown up."

She lambasted the left for forgetting the sacrifices Jews made in Italy´s struggle against fascism, and for becoming opportunistic lackeys to a "stupid, cowardly, dishonest" political correctness.

Yet her most damning invective was saved for Palestinian Authority President Yasser Arafat. Fallaci branded the Palestinian leader a 'nullity who, thanks to money from the Saudi royal family, plays Mussolini ad perpetuum and in his megalomania thinks he´s passing for the George Washington of Palestine.'

Don't sweat it, man- we all know the words. FWIW, I have read this gal's work before, and she is a fine writer and something of a firebrand. Another FReeper called her a "female swashbuckler" and that's a pretty good description in my book. I hear she's somewhat left-wing, but couldn't care less- she's got the fire that a lot of writers never manage to convey in print. Here's more:

-La rabbia e l'orgoglio (Rage and Pride) --

I hear she's old and sick now, more's the pity- we could use a few more like her.

Profanity has its place in a profane situation.

Great article. The lines are being drawn.
