Militant Says U.S. Prime Revenge Target
New York Daily News ^ | 4/22/02 | Corky Siemaszko

Palestinian militants seeking revenge for the arrest of alleged suicide bombing mastermind Marwan Barghouti are vowing to strike Israel's chief ally: the United States.

"Now, American targets are the same as Israeli targets," a senior leader of Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades told Time magazine. He did not go into specifics.

Sen. Bob Graham (D-Fla.) said the White House should take the threat seriously. "I fear certain American targets are vulnerable," he told CNN.

Al Aqsa's rage was further fanned yesterday when the Israelis nabbed Barghouti's right-hand man, Nasser Abu Hmeid, 31, after a brief gun battle in the Qalandiya refugee camp outside the West Bank city of Ramallah.

Barghouti, 41, was captured in Ramallah last week and was being grilled by security forces about his alleged activities.

As the head of Al Aqsa, Barghouti has been blamed for launching a wave of deadly suicide bomb attacks against Jewish civilians.

Israeli Defense Minister Binyamin Ben-Eliezer has called Barghouti the head of the "most murderous of the terrorist organizations."

The Israeli Army says it has documents linking Al Aqsa directly to Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat.

It seems it will only be a matter of time before some Pallie blows themselves up in a crowded public place in the states.

Only God can help any organization linked to that crime.

kat, these people really are idiots, aren't they?

In the first place, they have already attacked us. We still stand.

In the second place, have these moral imbeciles forgotten what we did to "the Thousand Year Reich?"

I think there is a very good reason why we haven't had any homocide bombings yet in the US, and it's not just Muslim Terror groups not ordering any yet. I suspect that the Muslim/Pali community in the US knows DAMN well it's in their best interest for bombers NOT to hit the US. Not only would that sort of thing destroy any and all major Palestinian support in the US, it would dredge up the specter of internment camps. I wouldn't be surprised if a few wackos here and there in the US have been quietly turned in...

Regardless, we'll see..I think it's still just a matter of time before something bad happens, because these terrorists are morons who possess little in the way of advanced tactical planning.

Yep, they're sweating alright. Two of the top Al Aqsa bombing planners are now in the "persuasive" hands of Israeli interrogators. Makes planning future bombings a little tough when they're on the run, fearing that the "mastermind" and his deputy are possibly spilling the beans on Al Aqsa agents.

Idiots, yes. Not to mention they don't have their own enclave (refugee camp)to hide in. They have to live among us and unlike the 9/11 terrorist murderers, we are watching now.

I believe it will happen but we will fight back on their "innocents". I afraid it would get ugly. Perhaps the terrorist among us should take a one way flight home now and take their sympathizers with them.

Why do you say only God can help an organization linked to that crime. What is 15 people killed in a suicide bomb compared to 9/11?

This took some really in-depth analysis to come up with this very deep and prophetic conclusion.

These idiots don't realize there won't be an Israel holding us back when we decide to strike back. These people are stupider than rocks. I guess they have not read what happened to the Taliban.

We don't have much to fear from organizations, but the lone nut cases and do just as much damage.

I know there is much to criticize about our culture, there's a pretty good argument that at least parts of it are decadent- but I still think we have and Iron fist hiding inside the velvet glove.

The 9 years I drove that wrecker around the South, I ran into every kind of person, from the highest to the lowest, and you know what?
Most Americans are pretty good people.

Not perfect, not Saints, but a pretty decent "average."

Our "mongrel culture" beat the Nazi's "supermen" rather handily, and what we did to the seagoing Samuri, well, you really don't want to think about that too hard, since we nuked 'em twice....

About the only thing I can say in Bob Graham's defense is that when he was Governor ( I'm in Georgia ) of Florida, he didn't do anything nefarious that I recall offhand.

The pro-Palestinian rally on C-SPAN featured speakers from a collection of anti-war socialists from both America and abroad. Most had their own agenda (feminists, American Indian, anti-death penalty) and showed up to support the terrorists simply because there was a microphone and TV cameras.

However, there was one speaker who clearly represented a threat to the US. He shouted that allah is greater than the US, our congress, and our President. He demanded a return to the 1947 borders, effectively erasing Israel from the map. This militant was infering that the US was a prime revenge target as this article suggests. I was shocked that he wasn't arrested on the spot...

I forgot to mention that the guy at the pro-Palestinian rally on C-SPAN also shouted "martyrs, not murders"...

I hope he's being watched, but fer cryin' out loud, there are tens of thousands of immigrants from nations who sponsor terrorism - not to mention home-grown nuts that support them.
