Valentine is legit. There is no doubt that the governor here will do exactly that to get an income tax passed. The point is temporarily moot as the Senate has adjoruned for the day without a vote.

" encouraging people to show up and voice their opinions tonight as well as bring a camcorder to tape the proceedings outside the state capitol."

Or time to bring a rifle and give them "ball for ball". A properly aimed 700 Remington with 30-06 will take down most redcoats er I mean national goons.

WLAC has a page but they are one of those stations that has not resumed netcasting due to that silly law suit that shut down so many stations.

LINK:1510 WLAC Nashville

Maybe they can help you find a way to listen. Thanks for the interest.

What law was that anyway? I've wondered about that.

Yes, I posted that link because there wasn't one. This was an alert taken from Phil Valentine's radio program and it was not linked. Also, the new format would not allow me to post without a link. Think about it.

I was referring to the Battle of Athens Tennesee in 1946.

Battle of Athens

See above for some good reading material about some Tenn. residents' reactions to tyranny.

You are assuming the ignorants follow the news. The Dem core constituency will believe it if their reps or "word on the street" says that without a tax increase they will lose their welfare, food stamps, community center, midnight basketball, reparations refunds, etc.

Think this will be the first time Dems will exercise some self-control and NOT lie to try and get what they want?

I'll betcha dollars to donuts that if re-elected by this time next year Roy Barnes is pushing a new tax(probably gas tax increase) to fund road and transit improvements. Every political bone in my body senses it, that's why he's pushing for the Outer Perimeter now(since it might be a tougher sell for a tax hike) and delaying the needed local road improvements. Fund the extravegant stuff now, and then plead poverty next year with the necessities, thus requiring a tax hike. Smart tactic, but typical Dem shyster nonetheless.

I believe that this is exactly the scenario for which the 2nd Amendment was created. The Governor of Tennessee should thus change his name to H.R.H. George III.

We may have the first shots fired in a real revolution in Nashville tonight. It has to happen sooner or later. I guess it might as well be now.

But look for Taxquist to be in Washington DC in an advisory position to the White House by this time next year. Mark my word on it. He was the Bush state chairman and leaves office in January 2003.

Oh, but Lundquist is really a conservative, doncha' know? Why, if you hadn't voted for him, you might have a democrat as governor, and then where would you be? Just look at George Bush...good thing the GOP has a compassionate conservative president just like Tennessee has a compassionate conservative governor, who sees the need for higher taxes, increased spending, and suppressing opposition to bigger government...Bush used CFR, Lundquist the National Guard...

Where are all the Bush groupies? They love to support every sellout of Bush, so I would think they would extend the same courtesy to Taxquist.

Anyway, you folks down in Tennessee...go get them. Don't accept this tax, and work to vote out all those RINO GOP Big government types.

s this Valentine guy legit, or a radio muckrake< P>Valentine has kept the people informed when Sundquist has tried to run his income tax through the legislature in secret. V has brought the people into the street and killed the tax three times to date. Now Sund is threatening to shoot the protesters.

Someone needs to get to a courthouse with an emergency petition to order the gov to stand the Nat'l Guard down. This is intimidation in an attempt to suppress the exercise of the 1st Amendment. When the DNC tried to move protesters 2 miles away from the national convention, a federal judge ruled it unconstitutional.

Who would riot if there was a vote for no tax?

Last time he tried this, he called out the state police to quell a "riot". The actual purpose was to keep people opposed to the income tax away from the legislature while allowing access by pro-tax lobbiests. The state police made the mistake of letting the anti-tax people get close enough to be heard and the legislature voted down the tax.

Evidently, he decided to call out the Guard to make sure the people don't get close enough to be heard.

There is also an implicit threat to the legislature in this action. The governor has told them how he wants them to vote and he has called out troops to surround them. Sounds like none-to-subtle arm-twisting to me.

I think some things even got broken that day.

One window. And it appears that the governor had it done to justify calling out the metro Nashville police when the state police let the people get close enough to be heard.
