What sickens me is that Graham (Senate, FL) is behind this. This guy and Spaceman Nelson are positive blights on this country. I say this living in Florida and watching the way they vote. I've emailed them countless times and I think this time it will be a real letter. I'm sick of their meat-handed attempts to subvert law in favor of socialist planning!

I am waiting for the Eastern liberals to call for a hault to the devestating development that is taking place on Nantucket and the Northern Shores of Long Island. Their beauty was once incomparable. Now they are quickly becoming residential enclaves of mini-mansions for the rich and famous.

I'm heartened to see that MOST of the GOP stood firm, Mr. Single-Bullet-Theory being the glaring exception...

But especially Robert Smith. Seems that all I see here on FR is how Sununu will be better. Well, he may be more electable, and Bob Smith may be not as intellectually agile, but he apparently has rock solid fundamentals. Maybe he could move to Montana, another mountainous state in need of a credible conservative to displace a '70s relic known as Baucus...

I agree! How pitiful is this? This just goes to show how the DemoRATS do not want the people to know what they are up to! How they feel so superior to their people----sheepelle!

One of those freedoms is my right to my property - not their right to my property.

We have a situation developing here in Alaska on the Kenai river (where I own 600ft. of river front property). The state has allowed the federal government to take over managment of the fish and wildlife resources. There has already been talk by the feds of opening the banks of the Kenai (world class salmon fishing), including private property, to all. Current law requires anyone that has their boat anchored in the river adjacent to private property, to be ten feet from the shoreline.

How will the government reward me for allowing these intruders on my property? My guess is higher taxes on my devalued land.

Thank god the libs haven't repealed the second amendment yet.

Got to go, someone at the door!!!

Not judges, the fired were US attorneys, those who make the enforcement decisions. The Clintons are about abuse of the police powers of the State. They and their followers are as corrupt as anyone in American history. Fascism is thriving with runaway police powers usurping our Constitutional Rule of Law. Those in power mistakenly think that they will remain in power. When the databases are better integrated from this War on Terror, we will be living in a police state only dreamed of by Hitler, Stalin, Mao, and Bill and Hillary Clinton.

Smith voted against ANWR---go figure. I live in the most over planned area in the country,Portlannd ,Or..Folks, we MUST NOT let this happen. They are not planners, they are restictors. They have placed an arbitrary line around the area and will not allow development outside that line. Of course housing prices are going through the roof. Next, they don`t want you to drive, so no new roads, just get on the bus or use light rail {the trains are never full].Next, small lots, high density, better like the guy next door, cause you`re going to live REAL close. Better kill this monster now or it will ruin your town too.

Howdy

Awesome, excellent, superb.

As I and many others have often said, no *thinking* "liberals" exist after 9/11.

Well there they go again, enacting their statist authoritarian recipes for centralized command and control over every facet of the American people's existence with secret votes in the dark of night.

If the republican party fails to sweep every democrat from office armed with this, together with the record of demoratic leadership that led this nation to economic blight and war, we deserve what we get.

Modern "liberalism " absolutely demands to be recognized as the stepchildren of the fascist nazis of yesteryear, unelectable and dangerous totalitarians every one, defined by their every power grabbing action.

Re post 21

I can understand your feeling that your property line would be the line at which you would be willing to die. To me,it seems that it would be a passive response, your life and blood will have been spent and you will have accomplished little. The enemy harbors no fear of dead men.

In my opinion, many citizens are fed-up with government and do not wish to wait until the troops are at their property line.I can envision the day when citizens start taking preemptive action. Some citizens may conclude that the enemy is actually the elected officials who enact the laws taking away freedom. Some citizens may go to great lengths to find out where these elected officials have their local offices, where they reside, and what their habits and lifestyle may be. Some of these citizens may also monitor the movements of judges and other appointed bureaucrats. Some of thse citizens may be so clever as to never join a patriot group or publicly espouse their feelings or intentions. When such a citizen strikes out at at his enemy he will probably live to strike repeatedly.

I think preemptive strikes carried out by individual citizens acting alone will lead to a loosening of the socialist society lug nuts. When the wheels have come off, then will be the time for people who value freedom to band together. Who knows maybe even a million armed men march on D.C.

There is no glory in solitary action but the results of such action could be astounding.

The precise place was posted only after more than a dozen members of the public had left the Senate office building. Committee members gathered in the secluded room shortly after 10 a.m. to pass the Community Character Act on a 12-7 vote.

Who voted for it? Who voted against it?

Yep, the big time rancher. All hat, no cattle. I wish they'd stop trying to sell that dwarf as a Texan. He's a Connecticut yankee.

It saddens me to say it but "Bread and Circuses" will keep the sheeple from standing up to the ever increasing big government encroachments on our liberties and our "Unalienable" rights. As long as the government doesn't interrupt the cable service and the welfare checks (including social security, medicare, farm subsidies etc.)keep coming in the mail there will be no revolution, no major public outcry. Oh sure, there will be the occasional nut case who holes up in his "Compound" and has to be subdued (burned out) by federal agents for refusing to pay his taxes, digging a well or draining the marsh without permission or for having too many of the wrong type of something or other that the feds have decided is illegal. You'll hear all about it on the ten o'clock news. But there will be no popular support for getting back to the constitutional Republic this country once was unless the welfare checks and the ESPN suddenly stop.

Call me cynical, but I truly believe it.

Don't worry, I'm sure Bush will veto it. He's a big land rights guy, isn't he?

ROTFLMAO!

Surely you jest. He isn't even a big "Bill of Rights" guy. Remember CRF?

Sure sounds like this Community Character Act and zoning enhancements will certainly be able to use the $$$$$$$ being tossed on the table for state and local governments under the CARA recently approved.......Bush and the GOP as well as Dems just loved it.

Another case of screwing the people royally while trying to 'take the issue away from the Dems'......when will they ever learn, when will they e-ver learn?
