Jim has verified to me that there is nothing in American Victory's registration on this site that would indicate that he is Joseph Cafasso. He always wants posters treated fairly in the forum in matters like this and we should respect that wish.

As I see above that someone has Pinged American Victory, he deserves a fair chance to confirm or deny this speculation or to offer insight if he knows Cafasso. That is pertinent as Cafasso said in the Doric letter I found: "I am a retired US Army Lt. Colonel and a Policy Advisor to an Organization named US Defense-The American Victory, chaired by Admiral Mark Hill,USN/Ret.", which seems to be the same name of the group AV was saying he was a member of on the post in question.

Of course, if AV doesn't wish to go through the task of doing enough convincing and discussion with others so that they won't bring it up when they encounter him on the board, he could just issue an opus and close his account. It would be wonderful reading.

But remember, he has been here three and a half years and deserves fair treatment if he wants such.

Tony Curtis was in a movie many years ago about someone who did this type of thing.  He pretended he was a Naval officer, a surgeon and many other things and succeeded for a long time.  I seem to recall the movie may have been loosely based on a real life situation perhaps during or after the Korean War.  It isn't clear what people gain by this, unless it is the deception and the power they feel by deceiving others.  Some kind of mind control scheme.

"44 days of boot camp at Fort Dix, N.J., in May and June 1976, and his honorable discharge as a private, first class."

Something is rotten in Denmark.
I was in the Army from 1964-1968.
IMPOSSIBLE to make rank in Basic (boot camp) You start off E-1 private, after basic & AIT you can make E-2, still a private. You make PFC (E-3) after you are assigned to a unit.
